The difference between regular languages and "type system languages" (at least well designed ones) is that the latter are decidable. In that sense another typesystem lang for the typesystem lang would still be a decidable one. The

I think we basically agree. Let me address what I think is the main difference. It seems the difference is what we each are including in the "universe" of the problem. To me, it looks like you start and end with the developer (may

My argument is: engineering is not about best in absolute terms, but about best given constraints. Some nuance and examples of traditional engineering (titanium as material) were given, if you want to rebuke them. I am not appealing to popu

I do not know how many developers use VS code, but all of them are using electron and it seems to be fast enough for them. I agree with the spirit of what you imply: what a waste. On the other hand we do not use titanium everywhere, only wh

I looked it up, because I was curious about the ranking per country, not only US vs UK. Uk is 4th best according to this ranking https://www.yongeeglintondental.com/2018/07/23/healthy-prima...

Very insightful. I can add famously, the parallel lines axiom of classical geometry that when changed created hyperbolic geometry.

Yes, but if you download raspbian to run in on virtualbox or similar it is not there. I guess they have different licenses.

After triggering pdb by having "breakpoint()" in tour python code and dropping in the debugger you can type "interactive" in the console to enter multiline strings.

IMHO Common Lisp is the modern one. Using the JVM is nice for certain uses, and clojure is a fine language, but going bare metal from higher abstractions is some power of Lisp that we should not give up. Same with macros and code generation

That is one option, and it is fine. Adapting to people treating a PoC as a full product by making it a more full-featured product is basically stopping doing PoC.

I see code as engineering, where there is no "right". There is "right" for the features, or right for the safety, or right for the budget, in a balance of compromises. Sometimes "right" is crappy code, and some

People can complain about anything. That does not mean they are right. If a PoC is later extended, it will of course have limitations. We do not need to change the meaning of PoC to full product to preemptively solve that. Instead, when a P

I think exactly the opposite. Having all those fake calls is the harm. Not having this service is the default, so unless it provides a lot of accuracy it should not be implemented. Worst case is real human calls start getting ignored or the

Of course you are right. It won't work with them then. This feature can never work 100%. The point is to have less false positives. Maybe the feature should ask the user: where do you put the phone normally? handbag, pocket; where whil

I get your point. At the same time I find it funny how Linus was checking patches via email deciding what gets merged for the linux kernel. Now, every service needs all the replicated enterprisey festures. It is not a personal criticism to
