Nope. Nothing too magical, I suspect. It says LPDDR4 right there in System Profiler, although it does not indicate the frequency.

Not the OP but this assertion is at very least a non-obvious as constructive proof requiring vast elaboration and at worst, obviously wrong on the surface with clear existential proof as mentioned by the OP [except for perhaps a idealized d

Are you comparing the cost to manufacture M1 to what costs Intel to make chips? I have no claim on that but that’s not what I interpreted from the above post. The relevant point of comparison is what Apple can negotiate with Intel for its c

Your point is theoretically valid but considering M1 is essentially a rebranded A14Z chip they would have have had to make for the iPad anyway, the marginal R&D spent on M1 should be epsilon.

Totally--was not diminishing <strike>A14Z</strike>M1 at all--just to moderate expectations from the quite astonishing video editing capability to "measly" ~2x. Even two year old iPad Pro A12X kicks ass on Clang b

While a valid workload for a segment, I would be a bit skeptical of generalizing the extraordinary video editing capability to general purpose computing, as those things are facilitated heavily by hardware decoders.

How is the hyper-competitive, low-margin, commodity NAND business core to what Intel does or aspires to do? (Intel is of course not doing their best at their core, but this does not seem to be an instance of it IMO. This is more analogous t

Key word is “irreparable” not “harm”. If you pay too much you can capture that if you get a final judgement later. It’s not “irreparable” unless you go out of business, for example, in the meanwhile due that harm, so there’s no emergency re

Apple only extracts that revenue from apps if you want to directly take payment through the app. Both Netflix and Spotify work on iOS. They just are not collecting payments or doing new signups there. So in your analogy the student is presu

I would distinguish user vs developer. Android had always been partial to developers (more APIs at the cost of inconsistent and poor experience, sweeping location privacy on install that they refused to change until 10 version later, etc.)
