Most of the UI/UX you see on movies are made just to appeal to your eyes. I've used the same models of some movies and they were increidble useless. They are made just for seconds of filmming not for daily use. They don't sca

I have some concerns. Doesn't seem too resistant to winds. The plants inside the house, specially on the bedroom part, not a good idea. I wonder how good is that house to keep warm on winter and fresh on summer.

Yes, I agree, but they're just lack of features, has little to do with the nature of an ebook vs paper book. People is nostalgic biased and that quickly goes away once you give them the convinience.

I don't. Unless you see a value of collecting them, having a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a book means nothing if you can access that content next time in any format. The only argument to that is that you like to collect that

Probably PDF is not the best format. EPUB can be quite good. I'm an EPUB reader and I never found any impediment. Most of the examples you mention, like "cannot display pages side by side in full screen (you know, like a book can)

It's a metaphor. Once you become Google is something that is attached to your person, everyone call themselves "ex Googler", "former Googler", etc.

Sure. I never put that power of choice. I was just stating my opinion. The market will regulate everything without us stopping others to keep doing things for ads.

HN community can upvote or flag websites. Shouldn't be a problem. If the NYT keeps doing shitty content, people will not take it to the homepage. Same as Medium with their walled articles.

Indeed. But ads shouldn't be the reason you write software or write about software development.

There is some good perks I think: - Access to inmense resources and infraestructure you will never see in an startup. - Access to many experts in many areas. - The Google stigma: you are googler, that counts for your later enterpreneurship

Not really, type shopify.com and let me know if you can buy a pair of shoes. You can't. You go to eBay and you can. Shopify is just the platform and the entire ecosystem supports the amount of transactions.

I think indie developers shouldn't rely on advertising at all. It's like being adventurer and rely on carrots as food for adventure. You need to find the proper food to do adventure. Same with the developers. Indie developers must

Yes, we're talking about big cities. People want to live near the center, but even at 14km is not matter of days. You need to wait.

There is all kinds of rent control over all Europe. In Stockholm is a nightmare. I tell you, 20 years to get a flat. There are other forms of rent control, that affects more or less. The economist Juan Ramon Rallo studied this matter deeply

It is happening all around Europe. Rent control + increasing wealth of the economy is crowding areas and limiting to bid for new renting spaces.

If there is any attempt to rent control is what I mentioned, not any particular point of the bill. The truth and I don't get it why people downvote me for just plainly state a fact, any kind of rent control and construction regulations

This has been tried in several countries, and it failed miserably. Rent control never worked. In Sweden you have to wait 20 years to get a flat with rent control. The only solution for the people is to increase the offer, how? by deregulati
