You are very correct with that -- consumers place a large premium on the optionality of convenience, even if they may rarely use that convenience. This even extends to people who buy e.g. large SUVs, because they like to know that on the ra

Thanks Miles and Prakash for the pointer to Markenomics. I pointed some of my friends in banking that way and it seems to be circulating with some of the Wall St. crowd, although they tend to be more viewers than engagers.

I think that's largely an issue of working out deals with local wireless providers. On a PC, I doubt -- aside from language localization -- that it will be nearly as much of a challenge for them to bring it global.

That's funny. I worked at that company for a period of time, and left a couple years before the crash to start my own company. It has done well, but at the time I assumed the startup route was much riskier.

I read through the link a few times and it seems not to support your point at all. This bank is not actually a ful-reserve bank; they still issue loans, and therefore the deposits immediately available are less than the total deposits owned

I think the "race to the bottom" was due to the initial confusion of the marketplace and lack of discipline. I am noticing many more apps charging greater than one dollar (usually 2-5) now than before and I expect the trend to continue. I a
