Yeah - I think I was confusing India and China...And wheat and rice. Sad that people that have had such a profound impact on the world, in such good ways, are relatively unknown.

slack has to be the worst 'end user experience' I've had with messaging. The threading is horrible, the client is huge and regularly 'stalls' (garbage collection?), and the voice chat is laggy as all get out. Basi

Interesting...I wasn't even aware they had moved to the UK. It does seem anything more then 10 years old now is forgotten as 'ancient history' :-P The whole purpose of the original freenode organization seems to have been lo

I tend to think this is an issue with 'designing' systems vs 'evolving' them. When you build something to 'scratch your own itch' and it suddenly becomes popular, lots of stuff you didn't think of tends t

The part I don't get is there was the same drama when freenode was founded... The org structure (wasn't it a non-profit at one point?), the donation drives, etc. There was a lot of "much larger irc networks don't need a

sounds like your team is in good shape... so move on to things that can keep them that way.. tools, training, etc. Maybe schedule time to talk about long term project goals.. the big refactor that everyone knows needs to be done, but can ne

I haven't written cobol since late 90s-early 2k... But my experiences were just the opposite. If you need to write accounting software, COBOL is a pretty painless way to do it. Add in something like automatic copybooks from DDL in fil

I thought the idea there was a lot of the big tech companies had offices in Ireland for tax bennies... and that was part of the EU ? Anyway, be interesting to see how it all plays out...

oh - didn't know that... I suppose they'd have to stop taking advertising from Florida based entities as well, to be truly 'not doing business' in Florida.

Yeah - my vortex rebuild (1) has south facing LEDs, so they're basically useless. The only thing I really liked about shine thru's was the ability to occasionally change up the legend colors (ohh - maybe amber or yellow legends t

heh - yeah, I rebuilt a Vortext Cypher (1) including adding SMT leds to unused pads on the board... What I learned about soldering was worth the cost of the board :-) I like heavy switches so I put kaihl box navies in it. Its probably just

I'm actually curious what makes anyone think Florida has any jurisdiction? Are any social media companies based in florida, have offices in Florida or 'do business' in Florida? I thought at least one of those had to be true

GMMK boards are surprisingly nice for the money... the new 'elite' looks to have taken it up a notch too. I originally got one, as it was hotswap and almost as cheap as a switch tester. But it compares well with say my Ducky.

When I opened up my board to swap the switches, I realized it had unused RGB pads...soo of course I hand solder 60 2-3mm surface mount LEDs to it. Yep, last time I do that :-P But it worked, which was the fun part... the sad part is, I do
