Making the browser window smaller after closing the downloads bar is actually a bug, it doesn't do this on other platforms. I think this is fixed in the newest dev builds.

I mean, if you follow the money trail, it's just as important to Mozilla that Google does given that's where a large chunk of their funding comes from.

Oh, I don't think their intent was to steal users from Rapportive, I was just speculating on how this feature would affect Rapportive.

Obviously this is competing at least somewhat with Rapportive. I wonder if this will actually consume users of Rapportive because it's good enough, or if it will boost Rapportive's coverage and use because of the competition. If I were to m

I find it interesting (but not all that surprising) that so many people developed a similar concept. The research professor I was working with this past year actually published a similar system: http://www.csc.ncsu.edu/faculty/jiang/pubs/T

Joel addresses why he titles that in the book. People that aren't smart and get things done usually do "stupid" things, that someone else will have to come along and clean up. Here's a link to the post that discusses it: http://www.joelons

I'll actually be at Google this summer for an internship and would love access to the EE shop. Do you know if there are restrictions for interns? Also, most of my work has been tinkering by myself rather than formal training. Is there anyth

Perhaps point values should be shown for your post and all of your children, so you can see what people think of the responses to your post (and the submission author can see points for everything since he's the essentially the root node).

I'm using the vim syntax file and plugins from vim-coffee-script and really like it so far. It even will mark trailing whitespace by highlighting it red (this is configurable as well).

It's a directive for VIM to set the tabstop to 2, the shiftwidth to 2 and to enable the expandtab option. The tabstop variable sets the ratio of tabs to spaces (in this case, one tab is equivalent to two spaces). The shiftwidth variable con
