So, to be fair to Google, I was not once asked anything like the train question nor was I asked to write a binary search in C then to read it out over the phone. I did implement a few things in Google docs, which is kind of ugly, but it was

At least this summer, that's not true. They pay a relocation bonus that's more than enough to fly you out and back for the summer, as well as ship whatever you need out with you. The lack of corporate housing is kind of unfortunate, but the

Having done the internship application process this year, I believe that's the one he's talking about, yes. It basically asks you to rate skills on things relevant to Google, and give location preferences and such. I don't think it was opti

My process was the exact opposite. I did my two technical interviews back-to-back on a friday afternoon (4-6pm EST, so late in the day), and had been accepted to the applicant pool within the hour, with a host matching interview being setup

I got caught up a month or two ago in the JSON parser and just kind of dropped it for other projects. It's unfortunate, because I feel like I was learning a lot, but some of the exercises in the chapter can be a bit unclear, and altogether

I would pay for this. While Rails development stuff is useful, I feel like there are a _lot_ of resources out there for it on the web. This isn't so true for Mac development in particular, at least to my knowledge.

I don't think he's suggesting that they _should_ default to lack confidence, but rather that many are very self-conscious about it, so it's probably even more difficult for him. Hence, his performance is even more impressive.

Unfortunately, since your phone has an SDHC slot, you're going to be limited to the 32GB card. Hopefully phones will begin supporting the SDXC standard, which goes to 2TB cards, but the largest I've seen so far have been 128GB and they're u

Sorry about that, I've updated it to be a microSDHC card now. I clearly wasn't paying enough attention with my original link.

You can get at least 32GB on most of the phones (plus internal storage ranging from 512MB to 4GB). Some of them may support SDXC, meaning you can go beyond 32GB (I know there are 64GB cards for purchase, probably larger ones for insane pric

Thanks dloft, I appreciate the response. I know you can't really answer why _I_ got rejected, I was just curious if there was something in particular they were looking for. Applying to companies and getting rejected tends to give very littl

I don't think he was commenting on his usage of "its" vs. "it's" (which is actually correct), but rather that it's ambiguous which item "it" is referring to -- Ragel or Ry's.

Agreed, it's really unfortunate. I've been planning a trip out to the valley area for awhile now, but I just can't make the finances line up for me. Such is the life of a college student though, I suppose.

I'd argue there is a certain notion of fuzzing with proofs. Say I have a proof claiming that a certain function is monotonic. Fuzzing, in this case, is throwing a bunch of numbers at the function and checking to see if it's actually monoton

Do you have any recommendations if you're working on a Linux platform? This is purely out of curiosity. I'll stick to my standbys of Vim and a terminal window.

I asked a couple weeks ago and they didn't even look at my resume before telling me no, so perhaps it's location. Even still, I'd rather they say that, than that they aren't taking interns. Perhaps it was just a question of my timing though
