Fascinating from a technical perspective, but how does it add value to the world beyond the search for increasingly complex ways to make money?

Apologies if this is a silly question, but why is console.clear() needed for this to work? EDIT: Oh, I get it, it must be housekeeping to clear the log messages generated by the profiler.

I think much of the confused back-and-forth in this thread seems to stem from the fact that "good business decision" and "bad outcome for users" are not mutually exclusive. I don't think Marco doubts that Google had valid reasons for shutte

I agree that it doesn't really matter, but I think the concern is that a layperson will read this and assume that the rats are actually exchanging conceptual knowledge , which we can't really prove at this point.

I think the concept of mass surveillance of one other has been a concern of wearable/ubiquitous computing for a while now. Google "sousveillance" for more writing on this.

I remember throwing together a super basic python script that would query random IP addresses at port 80 and see which ones sent back a response. Basically an attempt to find random web pages by IP address. Seemed like most of my hits were

That's true, but (and I may be misreading it here) I feel like the piece speaks to an even deeper element of chance: the chance that you even find your true passion to begin with. If you're in love with a discipline and know you want to exc

While I agree with the gist of this article, I think it's walking a razor's edge to differentiate between a "happy" life and a "meaningful" life. I could argue that perhaps there isn't more to life than being happy, and what a meaningful li

I think everyone should keep in mind that this presentation was (seemingly) created in 2011, so a couple things might be out of date (e.g. BlobBuilder is now deprecated).

As I've said before, I think Kurzweil's focus on a singular A.I. is misguided... he's missed the target but hit the tree. Much of the exponential growth in technological progress (from the printing press to the Internet) has to do with impr

I don't think you're missing anything, it's simply a matter of personal taste. I don't enjoy Skrillex either (dubstep to me is artists like Burial) but I can see why his more muscular approach might appeal to the American crowd.

I'm the original author of Recorder.js... not sure why unplugging the headphones would cause a crash. It may be an underlying bug in the Web Audio API. Feel free to file an issue, though!
