I want more desktops not less. Not having native support for multiple desktops is a shame in 2013.

Looking at this some more... Why wouldn't you just make the waiting chan buffered and eliminate any tracking of connections.

I'm not sure I agree with how channels are used here. What's the point of this spaces chan? Why couldn't a simple atomic counter solve this (see sync/atomic)? Why allocate a thousand bools? // The bool

It's funny to read these comments trashing mongodb. Perhaps people should do a little less HN ranting and a little more serious study about the problem they need to solve. The design, benefits and tradeoffs of mongodb are well unders

The problem also seems to be portion size related. On the larger end of the spectrum some of these smoothies can be over 20 ounces.

Shortly after being hired full time at my first ever full time salaried job, my manager when I was an intern was laid off with some others. It really sucked and it was a good initial lesson for me. I will never be loyal to a company if I d

I say it is generally a sign to leave because at that point things have got so bad that there is a critical mass of people that don't think the company will succeed. Usually at these speeches no one actually leaves, things proceed as

Well this guy was in a league of his own. He openly made jokes about a fellow employees lazy eye in public and once made a semi-racist off color joke to begin another all-hands. I'm pretty sure he was left off of the investor quarterly

I used to work for a high level executive that would throw around the words "you're fired" as a joke sometimes during all hands meetings. The fact is, using those words on someone in public (joke or not) is embarrsing and cri

There are a lot of smaller technical trainings and conferences once you get to a certain level. I like to rate conferences by the technical quality of what is being presented. Am I constantly being blown away by new ideas? What can I use i

DefCon is a joke. Nobody with any skill takes that conference seriously. This is a complete farce as one of the key speakers last year was Gen Keith Alexander. NSA was fairly open about recruiting directly from DefCon and DefCon leadership

I would be a lot more interested in meteor if it took more of a library approach and wasn't tied specifically to node.js and mongodb. I understand they are moving towards this by having a protocol and different adapters for other databases.

This was a great read. It gave me a lot of insight on how the big decisions were made and some of the motivations of the key players in Bush's second term. I very much liked how Bush let this play out. He basically allowed Israel to take

If this model works than it is great for Apple and Google. TV "channels" move to becoming apps and it blows open the door for more than just a "hobby" project in the living room.
