+1 for this. The cars which combine electric and gas make a lot more sense until we get to at least 5k range with electric. I'm not joking about that either... I routinely go over 5k miles on trips where plugging in for 5 hours would be pr

I guess I am not understanding why you would be compelled to re-write massive Java apps in JavaScript. Especially anything to do with heavy finance algos. Replacing swing UI's seems like a reasonable thing to tackle using HTML/CSS/JavaScrip

The idea of "perfect security" is a myth. The best approach to security is doing exactly what google is doing: Off the top of my head: 1.) Spend a lot of time and money on security engineering. 2.) Constantly update, make sure it is no

I actually started to write a response to this post about how WebOS and this project seem totally different in terms of the companies involved and being open source from the start, but then I thought more about it... This project doesn't re

This is going to be great. Should be far easier than Objective-C, Java and whatever Windows Phone 7 uses for simple apps. I'm still not totally convinced about large code bases being developed in JS but I would say that MOST iOS and Androi

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be debt free and he's in a great position now. I just think that it's possible that he left some money on the table to do this quickly.

Those rates are on the high side but not too crazy. About half of my loans were direct loans with a variable rate which was about 1.9% at the time although they could have changed. Without knowing his exact situation I can't really make a

Unless he had crazy high rates on those loans even the most conservative investments would have put him in a better position over time. There is no real reason to be frantic about paying debts, especially if you have a Harvard degree and a

Wouldn't this be better using SVG or canvas? I'm not sure I like CSS for this type of thing.

I already have a proof of concept that works like this but requires no 3rd party servers. My POC chrome extension uses a JavaScript based AES routine to encrypt text with a given user and passphrase. What gets posted to a site is the encry

Thanks for the link. It appears the actual build system will still be based on make but just requiring the toolchain inside vs2010 (currently you can use vs2005-2010). Am I correct here?

I'm much more in favor of hundreds of millions of govt money going towards 50-100MPG+ electric/gas hybrids than all electric at this point. Limited range, hard to "refuel", and now the very real possibility of bricking. I think we are still

I actually want to know more about SVG than canvas. Since SVG already has the concept of translate, scale, ect... built in, are these hardware accelerated like CSS3 animations for DOM nodes?

I suspect what is holding it up is both browser support and the time required to get it right. Maybe they don't use animate but provide a separate wrapper. Keep in mind, the specs are rather large. When people talk about CSS "animations"

Why is everyone missing this? JQuery is a library that provides a consistent API across browsers. In a future release couldn't they detect CSS3 animation support and update the animate function to use them if supported? Some projects are
