I like the idea of creating languages that capture a specific problem really well and making them easier to reason about. At a glance, I couldn't understand why this language makes anything in the cloud easier to do. The front page sho

You have absolutely zero evidence for how hard this person works. They were showing off the perks of the office. At a previous job, I had the majority of these things available to me and I still worked 9 hour days.

I prefer to use good old fashioned CSS modules for React etc. Tailwind is basically just a way of keeping your styles co-located with your components. For me, having `Component.tsx` and `Component.module.css` is good enough. People talk abo

If you invite someone out, you shouldn't just ditch them. It doesn't matter who you invited out or what your plans, or lack thereof, are.

You're mistaken. Optional chaining is a JavaScript feature[1]. The stated goal of TypeScript is to be valid JavaScript when the types are stripped away. That's why they have functionally removed namespaces and they want to remove

There is definitely some weird pseudo religion around things which are old. Anyone who says "cavemen ate like this, that means it's good for you" don't know what they're talking about. That's not the case here.

I said I write custom scripts about once a month. I use bash literally every day. But I also wasn't arguing the future of programming languages. The parent here said that shell languages aren't being used

I'd say you're in the extreme minority then. I'm not a bash hacker but I usually end up writing a little script for myself at least once a month. Even just doing `command && command` is technically using a shell langu

I'm in the same boat. I would pay just for the option of disabling shorts. I go to YouTube to enjoy long form content and try to engage my brain a little bit. After watching a pile of Shorts, it feels like the equivalent of eating an e

That is exactly what I mean. There's benefits to using native UI elements but they really limit your creativity. It's also difficult if you're building something for multiple platforms but you want to make sure that you have

Bold of you to assume that I am an Atom fan. My understanding was the Atom happened then Electron was extracted as the core then VS Code was built on top of that to fill the gap. Given that VS Code only moved in to the browser very recently

I really want native apps to be as simple to work with for UIs but it's just not. Qt is great but still more cumbersome and I'm not aware of anything better that gets you close to the development speed and flexibility given by HTM

That's not true. It was essentially forked from Atom which was built as a desktop application first. It just so happens that Electron makes it easy to run just about anywhere and web tech is arguably the easiest to use for building UIs

What's weird is that I still firmly believe that sagas is one of the sanest ways of organizing an application. I built a sort of boilerplate project that shows how I use it[1] but the TL;DR is that I can wrap all of my functionality in
