IR is used a lot in japan to exchange contacts with people you meet. For English speakers it's not that hard to punch in someone's email, but since email addresses have to be roman characters, it's actually a pain for non-english speakers.

The thought occurred to me, but don't you have to be logged in to developer.apple.com? It also occurs to me that a torrent would solve the problem.

I actually dislike it when this happens because I have to download the ~2.5GB dev kit again on my crappy connection before I can publish again. Or am I doing it wrong? Note: posted in other thread, but this one looks like it'll be the one.

Read Rise and Decline of Nations by Mancur Olson. http://www.amazon.com/Rise-Decline-Nations-Stagflation-Rigid... It explains this phenomenon. Basically, for a group of size n, members only get 1/n of the value they contribute towards any

I don't remember where I heard this, but there's an idea that you should only innovate at one thing at a time. For everything else you should travel the well trodden path. eg if you're innovating in your domain, don't innovate in your tech

Isn't the price of a magazine more a filter of intent than something to cover costs? That's why if you cancel your subscription they'll offer to renew you at a fraction of the advertised price.

If I was making a product that wouldn't be done for a year, I'd think about targeting next gen tech. But for apps that take at most a month or two? No way. I tried making an iPhone web app... tooo slooow.

2. Browser apps when powerful will compete with the apps on the app store. ie, right now they don't. I don't plan to wait.

Try increasing the ram limit in eclipse.ini. It's really stupid. Find eclipse.app right click and choose Show Package Contents Contents->MacOS->eclipse.ini change this line: -Xmx256m to something like -Xmx512m

I know how hard web apps are, but the article isn't about that. It's about kids making static HTML pages, pre CSS and JS for everything except rollovers, which they certainly succeeded at.

oh for sure. I differ though in that that's not the comparison being drawn in the article. TFA compares iPhone apps to pimply kids making web pages for local businesses in < 2001, and not, as you suggest, to developing web apps. I had

What about the barrier to entry: $100 + a Mac + an iPhone. As compared to a computer, which pretty much everyone had by 1998. Also iPhone programming is way harder than HTML. I had a mandatory high school class that taught HTML. Maybe I'm u

Have people seen the clip of an aged Edward Bernays saying he coined phrase "Public Relations" because the word "propaganda" had acquired negative connotations? Public relations is just propaganda for corporations. Too bad this article does

Yea, who knows. At least it'll set the trend to put front cameras in smart phones. Eventually the capability will spread enough that you can use it when you want, but I suspect that after the novelty wears off people will go back to regular

It's not smart phones that do this legacy video chat, it's 3G feature phones, which are pretty much non-existent in NA. Pretty much every [candybar, flip] phone in asia has 3G and a front facing camera, so you can video call anyone, anytime

Have you seen this? It's an attack on vote splitting, suggesting to you which candidate has the best chance of beating the conservatives. A much more elaborate version was available for the last election. http://www.voteforclimate.ca/en/ma

Or if you use PyDev for Eclipse: import pydevd; pydevd.settrace('192.168.xxx.xxx') Same kind of thing, but with full debug UI, and you can debug remote processes, eg behind apache!
