I did consider this, but I'm curious: what are you doing that you need to watch a video out of internet range, that you couldn't have done while testing things out while in range? Isn't it risky trying something for the first

They could decouple the video download from the app download. Then they could even update the video independently if needed. Not everyone that downloads the app needs the videos, and even the ones that do I’m sure would be happier to reclai

Excuse me while I prima facie dismiss a kindergartner’s opinion on what is an “objectively” superior/inferior system. It’s your opinion and prerogative, don’t try to masquerade it as settled truth.

At least in this case, it’s indeed quite Orwellian.

I did recently try to use an LLM to make a twinkling christmas tree quine in the style of qlobe. It didn’t get close, maybe next year!

I haven’t, so far I’ve only looked into ones that require terminal emulation and I’ve never loved how that works in emacs.

Mobile developer here. I historically am an emacs user so am used to living in a terminal shell. My current setup is a split pane terminal with one half running claude and the other running emacs for light editing and magit. I run one per t

Aside from the fact that you have no real job security anywhere , people take FAANG jobs for money. Both the high pay at the company itself, and the idea that once FAANG is on your resume, it will command the best jobs afterwards too. I th

It’s the same here in Fairbanks. We also have an Outback that we drove here when we moved a decade ago (towing a trailer, no less). That and the Prius both handle fabulously with winter tires. Since I only use the truck for hauling, it’s al

Alaska checking in. Nobody is hauling a skidoo around here in a van. You also won’t see anyone towing a trailer with one or two machines with anything other than a truck, because nothing else is going to hack it in the mountains with all th

Apple’s support for 3rd party keyboards is notoriously difficult to work with. It’s not surprising to me that we don’t see many high quality alternatives.

This feels like one of those PEMDAS posts on facebook where everyone comes to different results and argues endlessly about it. So let me add my 2¢: if you have 100K in equity and owe 200K on your mortgage, then you’re net -100K on your hous

Yeah, it's different, I was thinking about a time I needed to combine to separate repos into one. To do that, you clone one of them, then add a remote to the other one, fetch that, and `pull --rebase` or similar, and you'll replay

Is this something the remote can control? I figured it was on the local cloner to decide. Can’t test it now but wonder if this is changed if it affects the remote name for fresh clones: https://git-scm.com/docs/git-conf

Whenever I fork a repo I rename origin to “fork” and then add the parent repo as a remote named “upstream” so i can pull from that, rebase any of my own changes in to, and push to fork as needed. Multiple remotes is also how you can combine
