Did you have the experience with Modafinil or Armodafinil? Armoda is meant to last longer; probably too long for some people to take regularly. It's also more anxiety-inducing, so despite being the 'older' variant, moda migh

There was one other drawback: Some kernel features hadn't been implemented and you e.g. couldn't run Docker containers, which now works with WSL2. But that might have been fixed over time; in general, I find it a bit sad that the

I certainly see the value in those anecdotes. When I realized how much my Steam inventory was suddenly worth, because old CSGO items were rising in value for no apparent reason, that was my personal 'oh crap, this is exactly what an ev

Yep, we aren't exactly being conditioned towards higher frustration tolerance nowadays... I don't think I could still deal with a PC without an SSD. I think there are different kinds of being-stuck, though. With many problems in s

Hmmmm yes, this assumption of good faith might actually be an important part of approaching these problems. I think I instinctively look for approaches to problems that would work even for adversarial examples. In the case of these puzzles,

Thanks for that, actually made me chuckle :) (And it illustrates the point quite well, as that is indeed probably the simplest and most general rule you can find.)

Since I generally seem to do fairly well in problem solving, that is exactly what I'm trying to figure out: Are these problems actually representative of an important skill that you need for general problem solving, or are they, throug

Am I the only one that gets driven kind of crazy by these kinds of problems? I'm not completely sure so far what it is, but I'm guessing it's the frustration of having to find a needle in a haystack of essentially infinite si

SMB is... not very straightforward. I needed to reverse engineer it once to write an exploit, and it's difficult to properly formulate even basic requests, let alone the more complex stuff the protocol supports.

That's really cool! I'd hoped custom HRTFs would become more prevalent, as using these one-size-fits-all HRTFs is a bit of a shame. Are photos really enough to get a good result, though? I'd imagine e.g. internal bone structu

Honestly, you get used to the name and just kind of abstract over it -- because it's your only option if your work is in the area. It can still be awkward to explain to people what you're working on though, so I welcome the change
