Not sure I buy the premise. Austin has a household $133k median income with a $435k median home price. It’s very affordable. But, to make Austin more affordable still, you make it less expensive to build so that it’s profitable to build. Ty

It’s disturbing to see multiple comments that “capitalism” is to blame for the costs in healthcare. The US healthcare market is the least free market in the US. Capitalism (when there is true competition) brings down costs pretty universall

I occasionally use wireless, but 90% of the time I prefer wired for this reason. Reliable, simple, harder to lose, no charging, easier to connect. I just done think the wires are a problem for me, sometimes a benefit, sometimes a mild incon

Having tried this a bit I do really like the single api call for all of it. I also appreciate transparent pricing but I am not 100% sure the sense of scale of costs. It could be helpful to give some ballparks on things for each of the plans

I think to the extent they are making a speed v quality tradeoff, I think they are making the right call. 10x speed over quality any day for me. Reminds me of: "If brute force doesn't work, you aren't using enough of it."

I like that it lets you specify the types of accepted docs. The biggest issue i have with Stripe identity verification product right now. And biometric re-log in is also great. Will check it out.

I’m skeptical. The average cost of car ownership is $0.69 per mile without insurance, $0.25 per mile to store it, and $0.49 per mile in societal costs (death, injuries, delays due to accidents). So about $1.43 per mile. I do not enjoy drivi

Red light running is bad...but I think the solution to this problem at this point is just "self driving cars". With some exceptions, I would just focus all jurisdictions on this future and avoid policy inline with a world full of

These responses to AI seems to be from people who have not experienced what AI can do, and are therefore skeptical. But I have personally repeatedly used AI instead of humans across domains. AI displacement isn’t a prediction. It’s here.

This is cool, but they mentioned affordability, and said this is about $1/hour to run, which is about what I pay for claude code on $200/mo plan. This is not literally true, sometimes I'm running up to 3 concurrent intermitte

I actually do want ads. Subtle, labeled ads. For many queries in Google, I like to know who is advertising for an intent. In may cases, that is a perfect fit. I don’t want ONLY the companies who have gamed the LLM SEO market to win.

The bull case IMO is that you can just produce very standardized ai satellites, load them into Starship, blast them off and have them work. And that the cost of that versus permitting etc will be less than trying to do it on land. I kind of

Self driving cars can’t come fast enough to save lives. I’d love to have states start today at cracking down on unsafe drivers of all kinds. I suspect that converting just 10% of miles to self driving + getting rid of 10% most unsafe driver

I love the original 14+14. I’ve heard proposals for exponentially growing fees to allow truly big enterprises to stay copywritten longer, like 14+14 with filing and $100, another 14 for $100,000, another 14 for $10M, another 14 for $100M. T

Home prices do have a demand side component to pricing…but making it easier to add supply at lower cost is by far the best way to address housing issues. Most importantly: as a society we can either encourage homeownership as a good investm
