For me, Opus 4.1 was so much better than Sonnet 4.0 that I used it exclusively in Claude Code and cancelled Cursor. I'm a bit skeptical that Sonnet 4.5 will be in practice better, but will test with it and see! Hopefully we get Opus 4.

I would expect this to be correlated to not having kids as well. Anecdotally the healthiest elderly I know are deeply involved in raising grandkids/great grandkids, and those relatives without kids I've lost early. I've heard

This makes more sense than battery costs dropping 99%. I was confused by op, and wish it were true. It’s more like 10x solar than 1/10th solar.

Fast is cool! Totally has its place. But I use Claude code in a way right now where it’s not a huge issue and quality matters more. Opus 4.1 is by far the best right now for most tasks. It’s the first model I think will almost always pump o

This is a nice setup. I wonder how much it helps in practice? I suspect most of the problems opus has for me are more context related, and I’m not sure more models would help. Speculation on my part.

Love it, great job SpaceX! I watched the Martian again the other day and I marveled about how much has changed. With Starship progress, almost none of the plot really makes sense (bespoke vehicles and payloads etc). The first mars expeditio

I think this comment highlights how bad the state of “medical ethics” is. Barring informed people from getting treatments they want is unethical in my book. Full stop. The entire apparatus is built on shoddy backwards ethics.

I think anyone who says there is nothing interesting in Rand either didn’t read it or is acting in bad faith. Atlas Shrugged and Fountainhead are uniquely fascinating even if you don’t agree with her stance. Chris Hedges is a self reported

I tried the water based approach before and didn't work, but this may be a good one. What does work for me is a CO2 based trap. I have 4 neighbors on the street using them now. Mosquitos follow CO2 to find their targets, and get sucked

I don't know that i have ever used jpg or png lossless in practical usage (e.g. I don't think 99.9% of mobile app or web usecases are for lossless). WebP lossy performance is just not worth it in practice, which is why WebP never

It’s not just engineers. Society has collapsing birthrates and huge deficits. Basically, we are demanding massive technological gains enough to bump GDP by at least 5% more per year.

I strongly dislike the “updating of versions” whenever possible. Versions are rarely better in all ways, makes things harder. Just make it version 2.6.

my thoughts on the email design: - Comparison is strange. One email has an image, the other text. Not the same email. - Hiding the previous parts of the thread seem good by default, but how do you easily get them back? - Where is "from

I’ve become increasingly frustrated with AWS because of this. They used to have a culture of providing constant price performance improvements. Not anymore. Every release has questionable improvements (for example, switching from r6 to r7 f

In the 2037 timeframe, modeling trends doesn’t matter as much as looking at the actual players. I think odds are good because you have at least 4 very well funded groups shooting to have something before 2035: commercial groups including CF

Interesting study, good work by authors, I read it as little to no effect though. Confidence interval includes 0.14 kg of difference in weight loss. But I couldn’t read the full paper to show how they tested compliance between the groups.

Yeah, 2023 I would expect no effect. 2024 I think generally not, wasn’t good or deployed enough. I think 2025 might be the first signs, it I still think there is a lot of plumbing and working with these things. 2026 though I expect to show

Anyone know of a way to just have a remote mcp server on top of a rest API? I want to do something simple to see if my users will care, but can’t find anything trivial (have public API, just want to try and wrap it in mcp for low cost). Tri

Copyright for most (if not all) fonts seems like something that just shouldn’t work. We want things in the public domain, like Shakespeare, and we want derivative works protected. Fonts are tiny differences on public domain work that 90% of

Thanks for sharing that. that was more interesting then their demo. I tried it and it was pretty good! I have felt that the ability to iterate from images blocked this from any real production use I had. This may be good enough now. Example

Love Sonnet but 3.7 is not obviously an improvement over 3.5 in my real world usage. Gemini 2.5 pro is great, has replaced most others for me (Grok I use for things that require realtime answers)

I also find this strange, and I wonder if I can get a consistent voice out of this. If using the api with a vibe/instructions for a back and forth, will it be consistent? This example app they provide implies no?
