The OOM killer is just fine for stateless server applications, but pretty much anything else and it's a disaster waiting to happen. Containers don't really solve your problem, it just adds a layer of indirection between the proces

https://github.com/MarvellEmbeddedProcessors/u-boot-marvell/... That's the init code for the network chip. I tried removing it, the code compiles, but the board won't boot w/ it(I imagine due to som

I gave up using mine as a firewall and just run pihole + samba w/ a couple of drives on it. I tried to rebuild u-boot from source w/o the network boot code since the latest Linux Kernel has drivers for the Topaz switch now, but no

It's pretty slow TBH. I use mine to run pihole and samba and samba will max out the CPU. I tried to use mine as a firewall for my Google Fiber but w/ just basic rules enabled it would max out around 500mbps, I imagine I could prob

> The problem with the Max is that Boeing favoured the major airlines that wanted 2010s technology in a 60s airframe. But guess what, that doesn't work, in the same way you can't turn a Thunderbird into a Tesla by "just pl

Changing the name of the plane will not fix the problems in the plane. The worst part for Boeing is that now under additional scrutiny more problems are being found, that begs the question what else is being missed?

In a lot of rural areas the cell towers are linked together using some sort of wireless tech, usually microwave links or similar line of sight technology. So in effect all those towers share their Internet bandwidth.

I think part of the reasoning, perhaps misguided, is for quality assurance. It's easier for them to say our stuff runs only on our 'certified' hardware then to try and support everything under the moon. These days I don'

A good rule of thumb is (focal length / 500) to figure out your maximum exposure time before having blurry stars. To get around a 20-30s exposure you're looking at somewhere between 14-24mm focal length, ideally with the largest a

Can you define "real familial relations" purely by DNA? I don't think so, what about adoptions or surrogates? This just seems like a policy that can be used to discriminate against people who don't fit a chosen definitio

Just because it looks bad doesn't mean it actually is bad. A blown tire has many more ways of causing a plane to fail during landing then a wing that isn't operating at 100%. As long as all the flight controls are operational and

He claimed their dog indicated on our car... but that's a bunch of BS because the dog was already sitting next to them when we pulled up and didn't do anything further(exactly the same thing the dog did for the car in front of us)

Just south of Marfa, TX on the way back from a camping trip in Big Bend. CBP closes the northbound lanes of the highway and has a checkpoint that everyone has to pass through.

I'm an American and I have been detained and searched by CBP without actually ever leaving the country. They didn't ask my name, just that we needed to get out of the car while they let their dog search the car.

Some of the creators on Youtube are recording in RAW 8K footage. A few 1TB drives will not make a dent in their capacity needs.

I guess the mistake here is thinking that PreCheck provides any kind of additional security. Best I can tell it's a way to bribe the TSA to remove some of the inconvenience of going through their security checkpoints.
