I would wager a guess that its due to lack of competition. Apple Maps only works on iOS. DDG is great but the search results aren’t. Does YouTube even have a competitor? I don’t think you’re a curmudgeon at all. Circa 2008, Google was innov

I really wish there was the option to disable the lock screen at home or on my home wifi. Or even disable the lock screen altogether but require it for certain apps.

> these guys could do something equally innovative Is Peloton even innovating? It’s a treadmill with a big screen on the front. I haven’t paid too much attention to their products but they always seemed just a fad.

I don’t know much about this data center but I imagine it’s pretty massive. It’s probably highly redundant with multiple pipes in and out on all ends. I highly doubt this guy could procure enough explosives to take out the entire data cente

I took my phone out of the case today and noticed how dirty it, and the case was. I simply washed it off in the sink and it was nice and clean. I couldn’t help but think this was such a strange thing to do but also so natural. Also, I’ve do

That sky crane shot blows my mind. Knowing conceptually how sky crane works and that it does work autonomously is crazy but then seeing a picture makes it even more real.

Humans are designed to limit energy expenditure. Its hard wired in us from our hunter-gatherer days. That's not the root cause but it is a trait we all share. Add to that a poor diet, one that makes you feel sluggish and makes you crav

In larger cities, yes. In midsize cities, unlikely. The walkability score in my neighborhood is not very good. If I want to go to the store, I can hop on my car when and be there in 10 minutes. If I had to wait for a car to come pick me up

I would think that any change to automated filtering would allow someone to see which groups would be shut down before actually shutting them down.

I don’t mind failure and I understand there are going to be setbacks. I just wish they would fail faster. I love NASA and all they’ve done but 10 years of SLS without a launch makes me doubt this thing will ever get off the ground. With a n

This is an area that I know absolutely nothing about, so the notion that new pigments are being created is fascinating to me. I’ve never really considered pigments and the chemicals used to make all of these colors.

If you’re a capitalist or a socialist or somewhere in between, I think we should try to find common ground that this isn’t a good position for society or the future.

I had an office built in my backyard earlier this year and I was lucky enough that it was completed just before the pandemic hit. I would highly recommend something like this for remote employees. There is a strong enough delineation betwee

IMO, its elegance came from its simplicity. It did one thing and it did it well. There is an ever growing demand for new features, not necessarily from users, to fend off rivals and to stay relevant and exciting. As with a lot of popular ap

That's my feeling as well. I bought a large monitor with nice resolution and I want to run my applications at full size. Window tiling is nice but its also a distraction for me and I always seem to forget which app has focus.

Two reasons and probably more: 1. The risk is different when there are human lives on the line. 2. NASA is publicly funded and if they want to keep receiving funding, they can’t be blowing up the public’s money.
