I was in Montreal for this year's CUSEC and revisiting that city, I can only say that I fell in love with it. I'm not sure of their startups, but I saw a games company there (Eidos, I believe..). I'll look into jobs there for sure - if not

I feel that the blog is more about demonstrating against the fact that Java is too complex as a beginner language, not on how Java is the simplest, quickest, or even easiest, because of course it's not. All these comments make valid points,
