There are big technology companies in those countries. They may not have the reach with the exception of TikTok which has reach into the west. I take issue because they bring up big tech influence into geographies outside “the western worl

I feel as though they kind of ignore "tech companies" in China, Russia, India, Iran, etc., who probably do worse things regarding human rights. If nothing else they should state that at the outset given they speak of "the gl

Even in tropical climates with wet rainy season you can have forest fires now and centuries ago. If people set fire to things fire will happen. That’s a separate issue from climate change. Climate change can increase or decrease propensity

It sounds like repression —which if extreme enough approaches (civil) war. I’ll give you that but then we’d include Cuba, North Korea and a few other countries as well.

Is there a civil war with guerrilla warfare? Or do you mean figuratively at war like the war on drugs?

Yes and no. HOAs can be a PITA and petty and I err on the side of less governance but some people are recalcitrant, stubborn and just set in their ways. It's a damned if you do and damned if you don't. HOAs are usually clear in

I think it helped that things were more tribal back then. Enemies could sack and pillage if opportunity presented itself. That presented peasants/commoners/etc. a disincentive to defect. It's not like an outsider would be

ICE doesn’t do law enforcement against citizens. It does affect citizens tangentially but not directly. ICE will not come after citizens for crimes. That would be regular local police, state police or FBI/ATF, etc. ICE is immigratio

Probably the same stick all admins have: the threat of letting the DOJ pursue anti-monopolistic behavior. If they "behave" the DOJ lets them continue in their ways. If they don't they allow the possibility of getting the gi
