To be fair, Wikipedia already uses a "W" as its favicon in every locale (even for languages with non-Latin scripts, like Japanese and Arabic): http://ja.wikipedia.org/favicon.ico http://ar.wikipedia.org/favicon.ico

The Firefox column is based on Firefox 12. The current version (Firefox 14) adds support for the FullScreen API, and Firefox 15 beta has support for remote debugging. getUserMedia is also coming soon. (Disclosure: I'm a mobile Firefox dev

For the past year, Mozilla has never mentioned version numbers in the official announcements of new Firefox releases. For example, the Firefox 14 announcement: https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2012/07/17/new-security-and-de...

When we actually do this, it does not necessarily convince publishers to fix things. For example: for several months Mozilla has been testing one tiny reduction to the User-Agent string in Firefox Nightly builds (replacing "Gecko/20100

BrowserID lets you use any number of email addresses and choose which one to use for a given site (though I think the current UI might get a bit cumbersome if you have dozens attached to one Persona account).

BrowserID is designed to be integrated into the browser. There are some huge usability benefits possible when your browser can log in for you. If the browser UI succeeds in reducing friction for signup and login, that could motivate sites

Note that the email was intended as an internal (and confidential) heads-up to Mozilla contributors, not as a press release. And I'm not sure how "ongoing security and stability maintenance" is harder to understand than "maintenance mode."

That's exactly what Firefox developers like Henri Sivonen [1] and David Baron [2] think, and their proposals have a lot of support within Mozilla and a high chance of being adopted. It would be great to get other vendors on board too. [1]
