(For now, you can read them if you set "showdead" in your HN profile.)
- jono_x 14y agoI'm banned? (My posts were showing up for me, so I had no idea.) Did get banned because I broke a rule I wasn't aware of? Or is it that a newly registered account needs to be approved by a moderator before the comments show up?
- mbrubeck 14y agoYay! You are unbanned now. The spam filtering algorithms are not open source, but I believe they are a bit trigger-happy when it comes to brand new accounts that post a lot of comments at once. My uninformed guess is that you were caught by an overzealous filter.
- pbhjpbhj 14y ago>The spam filtering algorithms are not open source // The moderation of this social network is completely opaque and often, it seems, whatever algorithms or feelings the mods use to guide them are wrong. That's probably survivor/selection bias but who's to know ...
- notJim 14y agojono_x, yes you are banned. Hellbanned specifically, which is why I can't reply to you. I don't understand why you are banned. Normally it seems like it happens to users who post junk, or who get downvoted a whole lot when they're new. Neither of these apply to you, however, so I'm really not sure. If you really want to respond, maybe you could do so on your blog, and someone in the thread will link to it.
- GFischer 14y agoWe can read jono's replies, but we can't answer. Jono, if you see some indirect answers it's because we can't reply directly to yours.
