One problem is that S3's object availability is only 99.99%, which sounds good, but if your site has 20 assets it needs to load (html, js, img, fonts, whatever) then 1 out of every 50 non-cached loads could be expected to be missing an asse

Unless i'm missing something whatever you enter is only stored in local storage. S3 is just serving the static assets of the site.

Your right that the way to solve the current issue is to increase voltage, but that creates a list of other problems, the most notable of which, death, you've already touched on, but here some others: 1) You likely still want USB charging

> 40W over 20 seconds doesn't sound too daunting. It would be 40W _for_ 20 seconds, or 800 Joules, which is a lot of heat, enough to boil 3 grams of water that started at 20C or increase the temperature of 30g of aluminum by ~30C over a

True but you've got to consider the numbers we're looking at here. As an example an iPhone 5 has a 5.45Wh battery, if you wanted to replace that with a super-cap and charge it to 5V in 20 seconds you'd need to provide ~1000W of power or 200

That would work, but you'd need to use about 0 gauge wire between the devices. If you tried that with something the size of a lightning cable you'd have a decent chance of vaporizing the wire/connectors.

I've heard this argument a few times: "It charges so fast that the density doesn't matter". What often gets missed is that for it to charge fast, you need to provide a lot of power, a lot more than any current changer and laughably more tha

Just value the vote in some proportional manor based on its location on the page. For example: voting for the top comment only adds 0.1 to the comment_score but voting for the bottom comment adds 2.0 to its comment_score, etc.

IE8 is a complete mess in comparison to modern browsers. To support IE8 you often have to go through a lot of extra work after the site works in modern browsers to get it functional even if your not doing something particularly complex. A

Most dual E5 motherboards have 16-24 DIMM slots, 32GB DIMMS exist but are insanely expensive and big, most likely they would use 16GB DIMMS so they probably have 256-384GB of ram per box. They could in theory be using some custom motherboa

We're talking about EA here. You need to include the latency required to go through enough bureaucracy layers to approve the expenditure of funds on another cluster.

A big reason most hobby boards use LDO regulators is that buck-boost topologies are comparatively complex. PCB layout is critical and protections are more complicated. You'll have a really bad time if you try to build a buck-boost switcher
