Perhaps I'm just not envisioning it correctly but this seems to replace looking at the screen to touch a button with looking at the screen to figure out how far apart my fingers are, or how many fingers have touched the screen after hi

I think part of what tends to get missed is that while AAA game development certainly has software development as part of it, it's a relatively small part of the overall project from a person power and cost perspective. It's not u

Here is one example of why I think Date is broken: For quite awhile (maybe still?) calling `new Date()` made a synchronized call to a static method to try and figure out the default timezone. That created nasty lock contention in multithrea

It's unclear what difference that makes in the context of my post. The fact remains that the modulation and signaling protocols developed for use in modems were designed within the constraints of electrical transmission across miles of

You can also setup a CloudFront deployment and point it to your app server as the origin. Fast and cheap way to serve static files without having to configure nginx/apache. Well...cheap as long as you don't need SSL.

I would think using an async logging framework is a cleaner and faster approach i.e. something like log4j or glog that does IO in a separate thread. I suppose such an approach is less ideal when using a language that isn't truly concur

A lambda doesn't capture anything, it's just an anonymous function. A lambda can be a closure, but it doesn't have to be. Closures come in two primary flavors, bind by value or bind by reference. Some languages implement only

It's still a closure, just a closure with immutable capture, just like Python. Also like Python, you can get around it by boxing the variable you would like to modify (or using nonlocal in Python 3). IMO the lack of exception transpare
