I generally found the fluid analogy did more damage than good for a lot of people in EE school. A lot of people think of electricity as electrons zipping around a circuit at the speed of light due (at least in part) to the water analogy. Ha

That seems to be based on this paper: http://www.int-res.com/articles/cr2009/39/c039p001.pdf That is a really weird paper, basically they are assuming that the 98-99 season is representative of some abstract

I don't understand what you are proposing. If the modal can't cover the like button, how would you implement a modal? How would you implement the standard background fade when a modal is open (which is a div covering the entire pa

That would break a lot of things. For example you couldn't use a modal on a site that had a facebook like button on it. Click jacking is generally avoided by the `X-FRAME-OPTIONS` header or the CSP frame-ancestors option.

The connection comments are a bit dubious. MySQL will use less memory for 1000 connections but performance will still drop due to contention and context switching. In both systems you want a small number of connections to the actual databas

I think that is just an example of losing the branch name, the commit history is the same in both cases. If you really want that behavior from git, you can have it, just create a tag for each branch HEAD. Actually I think this is all that f

No I'm not, you do _not_ require keeping a branch around to have the complete commit history of the branch, the point it diverged from another branch, all the commits that were on the branch, and the point where it was merged back into

Yes, you can. The name is not stored in the history other than the merge commit message but the full history is there and you can ask git to show you the merge commit for any commit.

Commits in git can have multiple parents, aka 'merge commits'. Using them maintains the branch history.
