For sure it's debatable but this is simply not true: > Studies show that women have the same hard coded visceral, visual sexual physiological response as men I don't know what studies you're looking at but you're misi

I don't know what "post-structuralism" means and I don't know the supposed tenets you're referring to. But I agree you can also make an economic argument for why marriage has been an enduring institution in society

Enforced monogamy + the risk of pregnancy is not a "solution". The risk of pregnancy is a biological fact with far more severe penalties for women. Enforced monogamy in western societies is part of a broader history of social cont

Reading through the comments, there's a shared narrative that emerges: Tinder, etc. leads to a skewed distribution of access to sexual partners based on attractiveness, which leads to unattractive men not having as many partners, which

Thanks for the link. I think things are more complicated than what you've said. There may be good reasons to donate to a candidate who wouldn't support these ideas if that donation could nevertheless help sway their views on the i

If you flip it around, it I think it's also entirely reasonable that many of these people only feel like they can criticize things after they've made their money. Or they know we wouldn't listen to them beforehand. I'm n

On average, they must be less wasteful simply because their tuition is so much lower. There's lower margins so less room for waste. They are also not a luxury good (college is) so they are more subject to market pressures.

In principle I agree, but in practice, it seems like private lenders are empirically doing a bad job evaluating risk. Rates for private loans are so high they can only be explained by a high default rate, even among "low-risk" dem

Generally very concerned, but it depends on who you talk to. It's extremely, extremely unlikely China would take any sort of violent military action to bring this about. More likely to continue be a long process of exerting geopolitica

Singapore and Hong Kong are options but they're not inexpensive. Haven't been to KL personally, but from what I understand it's relatively polluted and doesn't have the same quality of life as the other three.

I am doing this in Taipei right now. The living costs are low and there is a thriving intellectual community, but there is definitely a language barrier. Most Taiwanese can speak enough English to be friendly and helpful (which they are), b

This article is contrasting SF's incrementalism with the holistic top-down overhaul of the trash collection system in Taipei. It's not saying Taipei's alleys imply SF should allow more scooters. You have a legitimate grievanc

From my experience, the ecosystems are qualitatively different. In Ember's, there's typically one community-sanctioned library that solves a particular problem, whereas React's tends to have more competing libraries. Like the
