This is awesome, but luckily for the programmers and computer scientists here, one of the best parts of the creative aspect of the profession is the ease with which you can prototype your ideas -- no 5 ton statue required :)

This is amazing. I remember being horrified after seeing this on reddit a few days ago. Glad there's somethiing we can all do -- this campaign really shows internet support and kindness in a great light.

As stated in the article, it wouldn't be Facbeook's obligation, but rather a tool for prosecutors of repeat offenders. In the case of sex offenders, we have already somewhat legislated their online identity by including them in registries -

If people are complaining about airport security being intrusive now, think about the complaints that would result if this were to come about. While it's a nifty idea, this "spying" would never bode well with passengers, even in comparison

I agree.. the problem is that "meaningful" technology often takes much longer to come up with, create, and is often harder to monetize even once created. Government (e.g. DARPA) is a big supporter of this kind of development, but there's ju

I think the author is placing too much emphasis on the moral/ethical interpretation of free speech, and not enough on the legal implications, which are the only ones that really matter here. That concluding statement, that we are elevating

A lot of these companies are extremely early stage and probably wouldn't have that much information online for you to find by researching, even if you did know the name. The best way for you to find out about them would be to contact them p
