Ok, so I wiki'd what patronymics are (your "last" name is based on your father's name), but could you elaborate. Did the author use "Jónsdóttir" incorrectly?

I don't have any evidence to back it up, but I think uTorrent has better network code and produces faster downloads. I use despite its slight ugliness compared to transmission.

One thing that always gets me about blog posts like these, is that they never fill in the details in the post. He goes on about things he's struggled with, solutions he's found, etc, but never actually says what they are. I'm an Emacs novic

This isn't bad, but why wouldn't you also host the live code on Dropbox as well. One of the biggest bonuses I see about Dropbox is the fact that I am, essentially, backed up all the time . If his computer blew up before he hit "push", he

Whatever, thats a pretty good deal. You paid $100 to listen to music and now you get to re-use that $100 again to get new music (or rebuy some of the old stuff) They're basically giving you your $100 back.

What of this possibility: Aliens and intelligent life-forms do exist at many levels of development, but no-one has discovered a way to travel the unimaginable distances of the universe. Even at near light speed travel, we can barely visit o

It seems to make perfect sense. Its like storing and retrieving objects in a database. You can do it by hand, but its more of a pain -- better to leave it to something else and use the abstraction: storeData(key, value), retreiveData(key).

I read that, when he gave technical talks away from Caltech, he would have to use a pseudonym, so that the room wasn't packed full of people wanting to see "Famous Nobel Prize winning Feynman" give a talk. This way only the appropriate peop

I tried it for OS X, but scrolling sucks and I can't seem to adjust it. There's also some other little things I keep finding that annoy me... It may be faster than Safari, but not compellingly so.

This is somewhat misleading. You still have to "study", ie do homework, read the book, and spend time with the material, you just don't expressively stare at notes and solutions for hours the day before the exam, which generally doesn't wor

I'm almost positive that LLVM provides both. You always target LLVM bytecode with your frontend, but then you can choose either to: - run the bytecode using the LLVM with or without JIT. - compile the LLVM bytecode into x86 bytecode. This

If you make $255K, you only get a higher tax rate on the extra $5K. You'll still have more money than someone making $249K. No matter how you slice it, more money = more money. The gov't just will tax you a bit extra on the 5K.
