Thank you. The UI is pretty basic but I tried to design it in such a way that the functionality would feel intuitive to newcomers, with as few hidden features as possible. I picked this project to share because I figured that it was very ea

OP here. I've been working on an app/platform for people to explore musical ideas. This is a drum machine that a European friend of mine created using the app. You can press the Play button in the top-right corner to start audio p

OP here. I edited the post to make it crystal clear that I'm advocating against centralized e-IDs. The post is meant to read as a warning, not an encouragement to go in this direction. If you read this and you're feeling revulsed

OP here. Surprised to see an old blog post resurface like this. Just to be clear, I am not in favor of a centralized e-ID type of system. I think that would be a very ugly world to live in. I don't think that an e-ID is a good thing. T

I can tell you that I've been thinking about writing up this story for a couple of years, but I kept self-censoring because my blog is mostly about tech, and because I was still afraid of the judgment that comes with having a schizophr

It was a strange mix. She was a very loving mother when I was a kid. She told me that I was a wanted child (not an accident), and that I was the most important person in her life. I have good memories from when I was 4 to 8 years old. Thing

I specifically didn't mention gender in the story because I figured that it would make it easier for more people to relate. When you write a story, you get to choose which aspects to highlight on or not :)

I honestly don't remember which exact year this happened. I can give you a super wide time bracket to make sure it's in this range, which is between 1998 and 2004. In actuality it was probably closer to 2000-2002. It was aired on

I was surprised because when I posted it yesterday, I got a few comments on twitter, but today my inbox was full of comments on the blog post. I was afraid to post a story with many personal details like this, but I figured, I've been

We didn't push to upstream now, we were invited to upstream in CRuby and we accepted the invitation. As for the Rust rewrite, we just started to work on the prototype, and no decision had been made. The ticket linked in this thread is

Yeah to be honest, C was never our favorite pick to begin with. We initially wrote YJIT in C99 because that was what the rest of the CRuby codebase was written in. However, JIT compilers are very complex pieces of software. They need to do

We aren't dropping support for any platforms. The Rust version of YJIT will work on all the platforms the C version was working on before, and eventually new platforms it wasn't working on before. > Then they shouldn't hav

I thought you said being able to map multiple physical knobs to the same virtual knob, but I actually found that there was a bug last night. Normally a single virtual knob should only map to one physical knob. This is fixed now! :)

Some of the developers working on Firefox have told me that they are working on it. They've been taking their time to get it done, but the issues this depend on are showing progress. It should come eventually. I'm hoping not to ha

Not perfect but if you double-click on a node it will show you the control and deviceId it's currently mapped to. The internal deviceId tends to be cryptic though. As far as mapping multiple physical knobs to real knobs, I would tend t
