I'm pretty sure EU apps can link elsewhere for payment, but they have to show a warning message first saying that the payment is outside of Apple's jurisdiction and you can't get a refund from apple, etc.

"Sycophancy" is up there with "hallucination" for me in terms of "AI-speak". Say what it is: "being weirdly nice and putting people off".

There is definitely a point where we need to stop assuming that people who are good at building tech companies are, by default, good at _anything_ else. They might be, sure. But we shouldn't assume it.

I think this is a very interesting hypothesis. I hadn't considered the analogue of fast food. Solving one problem to cause another. I've never seen AI as a fix for a lack of human connection, and we should not as a society, IMO. A

> In May 2023, Tract was founded to build software to fix Britain’s housing crisis. I mean, they took on a heck of a problem. At least they tried, but I suspect it was an upward battle from day 0.

I wonder what the environmental impact of this would be.

A guide for non-US employees at US companies that offer equity would be super helpful. It's an absolute minefield, especially in Britain. I'd love to contribute that information to your guide if contributions would be considered?

I fundamentally cannot trust a searching system that includes a disclaimer that it can make stuff up (hallucinate) and there's nothing you can do about it.

Security arguments aside (apple has infinite money, they can solve any problem that they want to and they regularly solve harder technical problems than this when it's financially prudent for them to do so), this is hugely anti-competi

Personally I didn't expect anything, I'm British. My point is more that it's economic ping-pong beyond the control of almost everyone except governments. The US government is specifically to blame here though, of course.

I'm so glad that a spat at the upper echelons of governments are going to cause untold misery for millions across the world for... no discernable benefit? Wonderful news.

Sure, but that's an awful user experience. If you've got something useful, and long-form to say a _micro_blogging platform might not be the best place.

Since Elon took over Twitter, you can't even see a Twitter thread unless you create an account. So if you use Twitter threads I, and many others, can no longer read it.

I don't know if that's entirely fair. France is staunchly secular, more so than most of its European counterparts. I could be wrong, but I don't think you can wear a crucifix or other religious symbol in French schools either

I always wanted a Tesla before Elon turned far-right. Now I would never buy one. This is the "find out" part of the old adage.

The segmented view at the top of each of the screenshots is "modern" app vibe which tend to be SwiftUI. It was just a hunch. The photos too. That kind of stuff with the text overlays is way easier to build in SwiftUI; especially i

This is awesome. I was considering building something very similar, but great to see it already exists. How are you building the app? The interface makes me think it's native SwiftUI?

This is _by far_ the biggest concern. I own a home, but it doesn't have a driveway much like the majority of Brits which means I rely on public charging for my EV. In the UK, electricity supplied to your home is charged at a 5% rate of

Disappointing, but hardly surprising at this point. The idea that productivity will be improved by increased "supervision" is hilarious. It will cause the higher performers to start looking elsewhere; but perhaps that is the aim.

It's Musk. Me, and thousands others, loved Tesla cars. Now you can buy a better, more reliable EV for the same money from a company not owned by a man hell-bent on forcing the rise of the far-right in Europe. If Rupert Murdoch made car
