Its kind of funny. In our initial training the FAA requires that instructors really drill it into our heads when we using magnetic vs true numbers then as soon as you pass your first check ride you basically never think about it again. I&#x

Not to mention that having the center of lift above the center of gravity gives you some dynamic stability for free. This approach is the opposite.

I suspect the production version will have a covering on the sidewall for that and to reduce aerodynamic drag. It won’t be structural like current tires but I think the “wall-free” design you see now is Just prototype marketing.

This is a big part of the answer. Usually when you're adding power, its because you want to go up so the last thing you want to happen is for the nose to go down. The higher up the engines are relative to the center of mass the more o

I agreed with this until I found Hasura. For me its just the right level of abstraction and saves me a boat load of time writing CRUD queries. Now, 90% of my CRUD ops are autogenerated, with great, granular authorization, and for more comp

You're right. In San Francisco that would not be anywhere near sufficient to maintain a middle class lifestyle. Middle class in the Bay Area starts around $150-200k per year.

Exactly. I paid for TailwindUI too but have been disappointed by the execution in code. I love the visual design, but give me some abstractions and not 20 classes per element. TUI design + DaisyUI's abstractions is the dream.

I just went under contract for my first turboprop.. the numbers there are nutty. The engine can sustain 840C, it can go to 870 for less than 20 seconds and it can even sustain 1000C for up to 5 seconds without triggering any kind of exceeda

Small nitpick but while aircraft engines cannot catastrophically fail at 460F, no one should be flying them that hot. Its basically guaranteed to shorten the TBO on the engine that way. When I was flying a turbocharged cirrus (notoriously h

AvGas is only used by small, piston powered aircraft. Jets fly on Jet-A which is basically high-grade kerosene and AFAIK, lead free. The only airports that could be giving off lead would be very busy, general aviation airports like Van Nuys

Its so bewildering to me that Amazon doesn't do this. People are catching on to the low quality of the reviews on amazon and once that credibility is gone, its never coming back. Their supply chain is a pretty strong moat but its not i

Yes but I don’t recall seeing any kind of breakdown that quantifies how much of the cost of infra is due to these lawsuits. I may have missed it though.

I see these articles all the time, but none of them seem to start with a basic break down from $ per mile to: • laborer hours per mile • raw materials cost per mile • admin cost per mile (laywers, permits, etc) • cost per hour of laborers.

ELI5: will they have to keep the entire 380km or so of track cooled to 4.15k continuously? This feels like a shockingly difficult engineering problem.

I'm pretty sure that I agree with you, but if I had to steelman the argument against Eng Res it would be that since pay and promotion seems to follow percentage increments year to year, if you start at a lower point than someone else,
