Watch out for messages that ask for your username and/or password. Gmail will never ask for this information. While it's obvious what they're trying to say, this is oddly worded: of course it asks for your username and password when you l

I'm not saying that many people have too much stuff -- I certainly do, and I'm not entirely happy about it -- but throwing out stuff you haven't used within the last week is easily one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Which is real

Where I live (not along the Mediterranean) a dinner invitation for 8 means people starting to arrive at 9:45. An appointment with the dentist, half an hour away, at 11 means leaving at 11:05. To say more is to be horribly politically incor

If anyone releases a full-sized e-ink monitor, I'll splurge for it. Just a little bit faster and just a few more colors are all I'd need.

Removing bash using rm would probably be a bad idea. Although I think using the filesystem for this purpose is a good idea -- you get parallel-installed versions for free, and it's more reliable and transparent than what you get from rpm --

It's similar to how under-educated people will use reflexive pronouns and words they don't understand in order to sound educated or important. You and myself (and I wonder whom else) accord that this is the penultimate instance that pheno

Definitely agreed. I think physical books are a losing proposition for a variety of reasons, but for me, there's nowhere better than a good bookstore -- be it a large chain or a knowledgeably-staffed local -- to unwind for an hour or three

If we remove the adjectives formed from proper nouns, turn the nouns into "people", turn the verbs into "bully", and add a pronoun and an adjective, we get people whom other people bully bully people. This makes sense. But when we

You can set things up so that easy_install installs into a special root. And you nearly always should. The closest to an exception I can come up with is when you rely on image-based installs instead of package-by-package upgrades. And eve

The one isn't necessarily mutually exclusive with the other: media has been held back, but that won't necessarily stop the FTC (or some other part of the government) from getting involved in other media. I hope you're right that the FTC won
