I hear you, but I can only live in the now and not whatifs. I refuse to watch ads and will pay to avoid them. If a service I use makes that impossible, then I’ll no longer use the service. And there is more content in the world right now th

Agreed. This isn’t a situation where you can’t pay. YT has a clear, reasonably priced solution for no ads. It also comes with YT music. If people don’t think there’s enough value in YT, then don’t pay and don’t use it. Reminds me of the e

Except NIH/NSF are not luxuries. They're investments with positives returns. If the goal is to address the debt, they are the wrong things to cut. First they are relatively small and second they generate positive economic output.

> That’s not a post–hoc justification, that’s avoiding bankruptcy. Let's be clear. Cutting NSF, NIH, and higher education funding has nothing to do with bankruptcy and everything to do with the gutting and dumbing down of the US wit

And don't forget the anti-vaccine attitude rampant in his administration. The HPV vaccine stops an infection that is known to lead to cancer. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6001440/

If minority rights are not maintained, then the first majority to win will change the rules/system so that the minority can never become the majority. In the extreme example, the 51% votes to eliminate the 49%. For a democracy to fun

If you truly believe that, the fix is the opposite of what the GOP is proposing. Freeze spending at today’s levels, raise taxes (uncap SS, add higher tax brackets, add a wealth tax, etc…), then let the economy grow naturally.

Cancelling contracts out of spite or for revenge without due process is wrong in all cases. Including SpaceX. Though I have to say it’s entertaining to see Musk’s own companies be effectively DOGE’d.

BJJ is really amazing for this. Trust is built into the activity, it draws a wide range of people, and is practiced all over the world at this point. I moved countries, found a BJJ gym, and instantly met some great people to hang out with.

The VAT is akin to a sales tax. It's paid regardless of where the item is manufactured or distributed from (and mostly regardless of the item). The US typically applies between 5-10% sales tax on most items. I have no idea why someone
