Well, the most perceptible tuning AF does is turning on HTTP pipelining for image requests (which are off, by default). Other than that, it's just small steps to use HTTP correctly as much as possible. </admittedly vague cop-out> I

Hey, I'm the primary creator of AFNetworking. - As I understand threading and run loop scheduling, the run loop will spin up as needed when an NSURLConnection attaches itself to it, and back down again when no more connections are active. T

AFNetworking boasts really fast performance in the way that it makes concurrent requests and processes them asynchronously. That, in combination with careful tuning of the stock networking libraries makes. There are no hard performance benc

Rather than building cacheing in, AFNetworking is designed to work with NSURLCache. I strongly recommend Peter Steinberger's [SDURLCache]( https://github.com/steipete/SDURLCache ) fork, which includes disk cacheing on iOS.

You know, as nerdy as it is, it's this sort of Aristotelian dichotomy between content and presentation that I really nerd out on. I'm reminded of an old SimpleBits staple where Dan Cederholm challenged us to find the most correct way to mar

"It’s currently impossible to be 100% semantic and still be useful." I disagree. As I understand it, in this argument, "usefulness" is defined as "is styled correctly with CSS". To this end, the author cites using `"class"="span6"` on eleme

Looking over it again, I don't think there's a single code example in there without an error. Did he even bother to try compiling this example before posting? What is it with dangerously bad Objective-C resources for beginners?

Forgot JSONKit was in there—that is a solid piece of software. I've used it for all of my projects. My bad.

Completely agree. This particular stack of technologies is quite unfortunate, in my opinion. I'd strongly warn against any iOS developer using any one of these libraries, let alone all of them as a foundation.

Simple block-based API, significantly less lines of code to accomplish the same tasks, and smaller, more understandable codebase that uses Foundation classes (e.g. NSURLRequest, NSURLResponse, etc.), rather than re-inventing the wheel And

A much easier way to add async HTTP and image requests would be to just use AFNetworking ( https://github.com/gowalla/AFNetworking ) The rest of this I could really take or leave. Really wish there was something better than EGOPullToRefresh

Yeah, I'm well-aware of that, too. But it was too tempting to do a NextStep-style vestigial prefix (Gowalla was previously named Alamofire, hence AF). Fingers crossed that Apple doesn't release "Apple Framework" anytime soon.

Point taken; sensational headline is sensational. ASI is a respectable library, certainly. It's been around for a long time, and it does everything you could possibly conceive of. Problem is, for most people, it does too much, and as a resu

Thanks for all of your feedback so far! I just posted a bit of explanation and a response on my blog: http://mattt.me/2009/07/chroma-hash-a-belated-introduction/
