I think the number of people who care about streaming DRM media probably already used Chrome at the time of the EME stuff being added to Firefox.

WebKit seems to be doing at least some of that, rejecting some of the more invasive new web APIs. Why does my browser ever need to know my battery status?

I’d be surprised if close to 100% of those users aren’t using Chrome, not Firefox for any streaming purposes.

Yeah this feels very much the point of DRM in browsers. I will never understand why Firefox caved. This is 100% the kind of thing they should fight.

I got my PC in 1996, replacing my 1990 Amstrad CPC. I was contributing to free software projects a little over a year or so later, working full time customizing free software in house by 2001, made a short film about GNU in 2007 and a consu

How much of this is targeted to a mouse user vs. trackpad user? Window management on macOS is awful. Stage Manager almost gets this right but then I go through months with turning it off again. It seems like Windows and Linux users tend to

Damn. What year was that? They were quickly replaced by 486 machines running OS/2 of some vintage (pre Warp) on a server machine. A few machines had floppy drives. A couple even had caddy-based CD-ROM drives.

Yeah my “internet” access was using Mini Office 2 on the CPC to make a modem connection to another computer and that computer had internet access. Later the Numbus machines were replaced with 486 SX 25 machines from RM (via the UK supermark

In the UK we had lots of 186 based PC clones from Research Machines such as the Nimbus. They ran a version of MS-DOS and Windows but weren’t strictly PC compatible. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RM_Nimbus I had a CPC t

Given the rants from the same developer on LKML about vaccines, I’m sure their side of the story Re: Red Hat/freedesktop.org isn’t the full story.

Apple News+ is one way. Another is what 404media does. You pay $10 a month for no ads and extra stuff. But yes, I know what you want and sadly there’s nobody doing it yet.

I think there was some perceived initial concern about the patches provided by Apple to KHTML in so much as they now had to merge a huge amount of code into the project and much of it was (IIRC) lots and lots of ifdef statements.

Everyone I know who uses Jira hates it. I don’t think there’s a lack of people ready to point out the things they hate about it. I have one: I hate that browsers (except Firefox) won’t let me copy a column of data from a table on a webpage.
