Too many people don’t have a real backup at all. For backing up Unix machines I like to rsync the whole machine to a machine with ZFS snapshots. Borgbackup is also a tool I’ve used and a lot of people like. Test your backups.

I imported one to the UK in 1998/1999. Not a very practical system but Nintendo likes to try new things.

More like imagine if my personal domain name blocked your personal domain name because you keep sending me unwanted email, maybe. It's a mistake to have huge silo servers in the first place.

Millions of people use Safari all day every day. Developers might not like it but people use it. Personally I use it for almost everything now.

Consumer facing stuff so nobody in my use case is running much other than a few versions of Safari or Chrome on desktop or really Safari on mobile. (87-92% iOS on mobile)

ThinkPad keyboards have gotten worse. I have a closet full of older models where the keyboards aren’t crap. But it really is a shame there are no high quality laptops with Linux preinstalled as an option. Every time this comes up people sug

The keyboards and trackpads on a lot of the non-Apple laptops out there are very bad. If you look at https://dell.com/linux you can see the options for a Linux machine with more than 16gb of RAM drop off pretty quickly. I d

Yep, but part of the same line often and I’m sure I missed some devices out. The 64DD for example. The point is that Nintendo has basically always done this.

Can you point to specific Lenovo and Asus models? I’ve found the quality of ThinkPad X1 machines to be terrible in the last few years to the point where colleagues who would normally have one switched to Dell laptops of dubious quality inst

I’d love to see anyone in this thread suggest some laptops with similar specs and build quality to the current gen offerings from Apple, especially devices that run Linux or a BSD. Same with iPhones: is there any Android phone that approach
