Lots of native modules are going to have issues until they are updated.

Don't. I don't think Chris Lea is updating his anymore. Wget the tarball and tar -C /usr/local --strip-components 1 -xvf <tarball>

Do you have an example of the out of date documentation? The Node.js built-in modules have remained largely unchanged (as far as my use goes) since around 0.6.0 if not earlier. Streams underwent some big changes but most heavily used module

In this particular case I don't see the point either although Atlassian does have a strong history of ignoring customers. The big one I know of off hand that led me away from them is below: https://help.hipchat.com/foru

Gotcha. I guess marking them "shipped" just puts them into canary? That was done a while back. https://code.google.com/p/v8/issues/detail?id=2700

Not necessarily. I don't think the v8 team really consider the Node project so breaking changes in v8 take some time to get merged into Node/io.js. This is the reason that arrow functions are only shipping now when v8 marked them

This is huge. I've been using RxJS lately and arrow functions will make this 100x better.

I don't have any arguments for Angular (I don't like it and instead prefer Ember).. I do have some feelings regarding React. Flux is not a framework so until there is a clear way to use it beyond a single page of short examples

Just my luck. Purchased a subscription at full price 23 hours ago. Great to see this from them though. edit: They actually went one further and gave me the difference via refund.

You are right but I don't think a lot of this is what is actually being done when it comes to whatever 'DevOps' means. Where I work I'll push into production a few times a day after testing in staging and the only change

I can agree with that. Though on the other end of things.. I have a friend that is very into how some languages are optimized for various tasks and he'll mention to me that X language does something with their loops for speed, etc. I d

I see that I can't trust what is the traditional IT department to understand how my application works so I strongly prefer shipping Docker containers or using something like Elastic Beanstalk if that is not available.

One coworker posted this a while back and I just dismissed it as someone afraid of something that they can't handle. While I understand the point.. I'm also a dev and I love "DevOps". Aren't we all doing this becaus

I prefer the situation on Linux where I don't have the certificate at all rather than getting the certificate and having to mark it untrusted. Edit: I'm referring to configuring the package as ca-certificates is installed or via d

The bigger takeaway from this is with a system like this (fully managed by Windows Updates).. how can you remove certificates you don't trust? Latest documentation for this seems to be for IE 5. I sure as hell like to run dkpkg-recon

I think that is what the op meant. Between major versions meaning breaking changes happening in updates happening between 1.0 and 2.0 i.e. 1.1, 1.2, etc. That said.. is Docker using semver? It doesn't look that way so is it written som

Making some pretty big assumptions in that people who upgraded are assumed to have liked it. Wonder if this counts the 8 virtual machines I had installed it on and then deleted.

That'd be great. I'm outside of the Lehigh Valley closer to Hamburg (but work in Allentown). There are some tech meetups in the Allentown/Bethlehem area but nothing that has been very interesting so far.

Future Node.js releases will come from what is current io.js. That is all. The name is not changing. This is nothing to get excited about--this has been the plan all along.
