I don’t have much to add except to say this was enlightening and great to read. My first thought is whether this could be used with ZKP at some point: one pitfall of ZKP is that you can copy a proof to other people and they could potentiall

It always comes down to trust models, (de)centralization, and whether it’s permissioned or permissionless. For example multisigs, without crypto, require a trusted and centralized custodian, and if you are lucky you might get a permissioned

A crypto currency like ETH acts as the gas that secures the network and all the above use cases. A program (smart contract) can itself also become a token and currency: USDC and CryptoPunk NFTs are just different software programs running o

A frustrating thing to see coming from Apple, who originally had us so excited about open web protocols (death of Flash etc) but now aims to lock users into the walled garden at any opportunity. Apple sees they cannot extract their 30% cut

Thanks for the writeup. It’s an interesting protocol, but I’m not sure account mobility and portability is quite as you paint it in your post. The main problem is that, like email and mastodon, most users will sign up through a service, rat

Instance diversity in Mastodon is that ~2M users or 70% of the network chooses one of 5 main servers. If your account is @foo@service.com and service.com goes in an undesirable direction (it shuts down, or is bought out by a billionaire, or

Great to see some more concrete ideas beginning to come out of this team! My main concern with the protocol design is in the identity, and how it lends itself to centralized name services (@alice.google.com). The end result seems like it wi

If a network can successfully detect a fake, then it will be incorporated into GANs to produce images that are no longer detectable as fake by the discriminator. This is the whole basis for generative adversarial neural networks.

I don’t believe it will feel like this. “Buying an NFT” will be more like “paying for a service.” You visit a Farcaster client, and click the buy account name/domain button, it triggers a stripe payment, and then you are given a privat

Account migration is a redirect. Your posts do not carry over, and the experience is pretty clunky.[1] Your name alias is tied to the server you created it on, rather than tied to your identity and all that it carries (posts, data, network

That's sad to hear, but it makes total sense to shut down the server given its sensitive data, rather than hand it off to another person. Mastodon/ActivityPub is a poor fit for a social network IMHO. - Accounts should not be tied

Most crypto projects and blockchains aside from Bitcoin and Ethereum are already using proof of stake for consensus. But otherwise I agree, it will give more confidence in PoS to see it securing Ethereum.

The game developer can decide how to monetize. They can charge $0 or $1 or $50 for the game itself, and take 0% or 5% or 25% from each transaction in the UGC marketplace. An "Ethereum Rollup" is just a "fast blockchain"
