While I appreciate a criminal getting caught, these types of systems that incentives private citizens spying and reporting on one another are bothersome on many levels.

In this scenario you’re still paying the cold-connection cost to your proxy, and that’s just keeping a pool of tcp connections open, not necessarily doing anything smart/optimized in the sql driver.

We have net metering here, so the grid is basically my battery. It would be more worthwhile if I could charge from the grid but I’m way overproducing as is.

This is a cool use of emacs, but containers have made the process of iterative development/system creation so much easier. If you have the deployment story down, it’s even easier. And the configs are much more portable.

The numbers that don’t lie are in smart phone profits. If you have a reasonable amount of loyalty, you will also be able to charge a premium. Yet only Apple and maybe Google’s pixel are in that arena. Money talks!

Why would you move to a bigger house at 55 or move at all? And you can only transfer the basis if you downsize or stay the same, which has net zero impact on inventory. Prop13 keeps people in starter homes for much longer.

Prop 13 makes it really expensive to upgrade, so there’s also less mobility from the “modest” range of homes (approximate $1m range imho).
