Given that IBM has turned Redhat Linux into the next Solaris after what they did to CentOS, I'm not sure that Java would have been better with IBM. At least Java has been getting updates and things still get released under OpenJDK.

That's a difficult question to answer because I don't know if I'll grow the extension in the future. Only time will tell. After I completed the extension I did try on another model and despite me instructing it to generate a

I don't disagree but context limits are expanding rapidly. Gemini 2.5 Pro which was used here has a 1 million token context window with 2 million coming soon. Cost will be a concern but context size limits will not.

It tried out vibe coding this weekend. I've been using AI to get smaller examples and ask questions and its been great but past attempts to have it do everything for me have produced code that still needed a lot of changes. I hit an Op

Seems about right for AI generated code. It breaks words on any letter and on mobile the default text "Manic" ends up as: Mani c Switching to desktop view doesn't cause the default text to wrap... So I guess you get different

The people configuring WAF rules at CDNs tend to do a poor job understanding sites and services that discuss technical content. It's not just Cloudflare, Akamai has the same problem. If your site discusses databases then turning on the

The best? I tried the Photoshop AI features to clean up a old photo for the first time this week and it crashed every time. After a bunch of searching I found a post identifying problem - it always crashes if there are two or more faces in

There have been several posts on HN about Google no longer indexing the entire internet. My understanding is that AI generated content has become so common that Google has become selective about which content it will index. If low traffic s

With Google Photos and YouTube they should have had enough leverge to build a social platform based on photo and video sharing. The implementation, marketing and commitment just wasn't there.

Google is so bad at marketing. Gemini should have be an internal only name. Google's ChatGPT should be branded as Google AI or GoogleGPT and it should be in the Google app. Google+ was particularly awful. They had to break the establis

I ran a lot in two pairs of Altra Instinct 1.0s. Altra shoes used to be very minimalist that also happened to be zero drop with big toe boxes. The most notable thing was how little cushion it had, it was like running on a piece of leather,

The book Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach starts by talking about schools of thought on how to gauge if an agent is intelligent. I think it was mimicking human behavior vs behaving rationally which I thought was funny.

I tested palemoon on Win with one of my Cloudflare sites and didn't see any problem either. It's probably dependent on the security settings the site owner has choosen. I'm guessing bot fight mode might cause the issue.
