Agreed, not being able to scale storage independently of CPU is kind of a deal breaker. Feels like it's just a way to get you up to higher instance types whether you need the CPU or not.

I'm sorry to call out this comment specifically, but almost everything you said here is not true. Out-Of-Memory crashes are not the status quo. The JVM garbage collector is (generally) a very high performance system that has improved i

There seems to be some conflicting information in the article, I don't understand how these quotes line up: "...prices for lithium-ion batteries have fallen fast — by almost half just since 2014." "But for the most part,

I'm pretty sure the article is incorrect on that topic, in that the postal service receives indirect subsidies that some estimate to be worth $18B a year: http://fortune.com/2015/03/27/us-postal-service&#

It seems to me that the postal system has become little more than a subsidized marketing channel that is difficult to unsubscribe from, and a lazy communication choice for the most inefficient companies. It should at the very least be price

The original statement regarding Swift 4 was "the primary goals are to deliver on the promise of source stability from 3.0 on, and to provide ABI stability for the standard library." I hope this statement is still true. The Swift

I think my ideal scenario would be to have a Java API similar to what android has, but running on the server with a sort of global view of the data. Then it could listen to whatever it wanted to and issue notifications, send emails, etc. Th

Is there a way I'm missing to generate things like notifications based on changes in data with the open source edition? Or would you have to send a separate request to the server to let it know to send out the notification, something l

This seems great and is attacking a super irritating problem when developing mobile apps. However, it doesn't seem like it would be that practical to use on a real app without server side access, something that seems to cost several th

Does Lenovo's history with malware give anyone pause when considering this laptop? I'm just interested in general - I'm a Mac owner now, but used to be a happy thinkpad owner back in the day.

I'm a little confused about the benefits of server side rendering. I thought the point of these js UI frameworks was to make the client do a bunch of the work? Can anyone give me some of the upsides? Thanks!

One interesting side effect of this might be that reasonably priced single-payment apps might seem desirable again. If a lot of apps switch to a $0.99/month subscription, then even a $4.99 one time payment might seem ok, whereas right
