I do agree but I think not enough people become aware of it when they start saving. In a sense it would probably be easier on all if the government just said we'll top up your deposit by 25% upto the value of 5k when you buy your first

Indeed. That's before you've even gotten to places like Manchester, Edinburgh and the like. Instinctively it feels like about 2/3rds of people live in "unaffordable to buy" areas. Worse it's probably the best p

Total rubbish, building regs are if anything not strict enough (see flammable cladding, new build house quality) The restriction is planning permission e.g where are developers allowed to build housing. To a lesser extent the large house bu

4k savings gets a 1k bonus per year so; -It's 16K -They need to wait 4 years. The point stands if they are aware of the scheme when they start saving and save exactly 4k a year every year (more realistically it will be 2k year 1, 4k

What do you think of these solutions; 1 - Create a independent body for housing growth "The house bank of England" and thier responsibility is to ensure 0% YOY house price growth by increasing supply to the point prices no longer

I think we can add "high interest rates" to the above list. That is a symptom, not a cause. If we built more houses it wouldn't matter anywhere near as much. We can't have a situation where demand is outstripping supply

There's a difference between 'a company negotiates on behalf of a number of clients and individuals happen to get a feeling for ballpark figures' verses publishing the exact figures of every deal on the internet.

99% of the time it's just a docker container that connects to a database, an object store and redis. If we need to move it then we move it... not exactly difficult or time consuming. There are always ways of half moving things too, for

I think without aws it would be painful to be honest. Use code pipeline/cloud build then either container registry and ecs or beanstalk. You get everything you mentioned for free with either set up. Seriously it takes moments to write

These maths are quite theoretical! In reality in a 1:32 PON you'll typically use somewhere between 14 and 30 ports (because typically you want to leave at least one spare port). In rural areas the lower side of that is more likely as y

This is really not true in practice. 1:32 split gpon in theory can do upto 20KM but in practice with a typical number of splices, reasonable optical budget and so on you are looking at maybe 15KM. 1:64 xgspon is really only good for about 6

That was horrific and so deeply tragic. Without diminishing that I would say this kind of event is extremely exceptional and there's an enormous bar to a police officer even carrying a weapon in the UK and that was an Mi5 failure.
