I think if you have the desire and the time to combine these skills, then it's a good idea to do this. If you enjoy building and optimizing pipelines and if you enjoy doing creating analytics, stats and building models, you will be ver

> I understand that there are many ways of looking at it, but this seems backwards to me. Consumption does not meaningfully grow the economy; it shrinks it. Once something is consumed, it is used up, gone, no longer available. This doesn

I agree with this. I think you really need to be a good data engineer to be a good data scientist. Now, these terms are different roles at different organizations. I think you need to have a well developed software engineering skillset. You

That's part of the Lake Woebegone effect. For me it's different, I think I'm smarter than average 77% of the time.

Is this similar to Airtable? It's fine if it is, I think this is a difficult problem with a large market.

Everything you said is correct and makes a lot of sense with the exception of the number of states. There are 50 states in the US. Better luck next time DC and Puerto Rico.

I've seen this scenario happen at other companies too. I think this is where a code review process helps. You can submit changes, but you have to work with the team to review them. This way they have buy in on the changes that you make

I disagree with that. Production doesn't mean that the code runs fast, but that it is stable and reliable. There are use cases where you need a performant system that uses CPU really efficiently, in these cases Python is probably not t

I'm pretty sure that's not correct. As a counter example I've seen ads for alcohol and bars in my Facebook feed.

NY Times also has inventory for digital advertising. If you read it on the app in your phone, you will see ads. If you view it in a browser, with ad blocker turned off, you will see ads. Their revenue also comes from a subscription model, b

Yes, I'm pretty sure that's true in SF too. It's a great time to buy a condo in the Bay Area.

The article says that rents in SF are down. Housing prices are up. Anecdotally, almost everybody that I know that rents in the City has moved, because they were able to get a better deal.

I think requirements and design documents are necessary for any project of a certain size. In my organization we try to do this for a project that will take a few Sprints. A Sprint is 2 weeks. The requirements and tech design don't hav

I think if you want to be a successful hedgefund manager, then you need to beat the market. This means if the market grows by 5%, then the funds capitalization needs to grow by more than 5%. What you are describing is how a bank or more con

Yes, that makes sense. A race condition happens when data/state is mutated because of the order in which concurrent processes occur. This could happen with threads, message passing, or many other ways. I think this is distinct from dea
