It's not that bad, those cities aren't very large geographically. I think the parent commenter might be eating a lot of garlic since his move. :)

Sure, that should be possible, but I think you'll need to have a downpayment of over 20% to make that happen.

That's a good plan, but it's not very liquid. You can put a HELOC on each property, so you have access to cash.

Tommy Tutone gave up pop stardom and became a programmer. It would be really cool if he created a SaaS platform called "Jenny's Number".

I also worked at LBNL in the same department as dekhn. In hindsight it was a pretty nice gig, it did have great work life balance, and the problems that we solved were interesting. The people and culture was great. It was my first real job.

Generally, it's so difficult to hire technical talent, that it would be very difficult to maintain a blacklist anyway. Basically, some companies would just break the blacklist, because there's a good source of talent, that some co

HR does the "how", this is the execution. It's important to do this right, so the company doesn't get sued. The powers above decide the "who".

I think a good data engineer should incorporate some basic data analysis into their toolkit. This is what analytics/BI developers do all day everyday. Data Engineers need to do this whenever they create a new dataset. It's not har

I don't know a whole lot about Rust. I think Rust is a great language for writing Database components and systems. For example plugin for PostgreSQL. Previously this would be done in C. You could still do this in C today too. Data Engi

I think you can use a queue of size w. Something like this... this is psuedo code. You iterate through the string once. You pop an element off of the queue at most once. In this implementation you might add it to the queue twice. def find_
