What if there is a crash on the highway? What if your car breaks down? What if have a medical emergency and cannot drive?

Yup. More and more young people have no desire to own or drive cars every day. This will be a huge shift in the coming decades.

This is 100% wrong. Not sure if you are joking or just misinformed. Everyone already knows there are tons of guns out there. It doesn't deter crazy crime at all .

I yearn for the day when we are over the trend of building cool new "lightweight" frameworks that supposedly solve some problem that the previous 10 "lightweight" frameworks did not for some reason

In my experience these cross-platform tools (Flutter/RN) have such a limited use-case that they are rarely worth it. Even basic stuff (navigation) require huge amateur libraries that barely work. Couple that with the dumpster fire that

Have a lot of friends moving to NJ - still relatively affordable and very close to Manhattan. Jersey City is quite nice and very kid friendly!

Ugh, fine with me. The whole "affordable housing" racket needs some real solutions. The current ones cost way too much money and provide far too few apartments. The solution to high and rising rents for everyone is not to start

70/30 split for apps is ridiculous and a non-starter. Apple and Google can demand that because of market share. This experiment cannot.

So crazy how far behind Windows is to OS X. Even basic GUI stuff (animations, smoothness, etc) are not even a comparison. This is just another example. Ridiculous.

There will always be disruption. Disruption is part of being human. How long do I have to live in a place to declare that I am no longer responsible for maintaining my financial stability and I get to demand free rent from the city? 2 yea

Nothing wrong with luxury apartments. Today's luxury is tomorrow's regular housing.

...Yes? This has been happening for hundreds of years. Part of being a responsible adult is managing your finances and being prepared. It is crazy to me that so much attention these days is basically advocating for the babysitting of adults

Nobody is entitled to live in a certain area for a certain price. Such things lead to distorted markets and tons of other issues.

Displacement is a fact of life. Nobody is entitled to live in a certain area for a certain amount of money. What ever happened to living within your means?

Because it's a distorted market. There has to be tradeoffs here otherwise developers would already be doing the things these laws are making them do.

There is 0 proof that these mandates are not curtailing development. Sure, things are still getting built, but we have no idea what could be happening absent these mandates. This is the type of thinking that puts these failed programs int

Maybe. But really, any mandate is going to distort supply and push the costs to other people. What used to be taxpayer-funded housing is now market-rate housing that is funding subsidized apartments. It's really impossible to know ho

Crazy how of all the recommendations put forward in the article, none of them actually say what the article admits! That is, inclusionary zoning, or any other affordability mandate put on private developers, is a failure and cannot work. If
