I respectfully disagree with one of the points you made: in my experience, micro frameworks like Sinatra or Flask work best for large projects while the more full fledged ones like Rails or Django work best in small projects. The reason is

Yeah as a solo freelance dev I couldn't see how stuff like microservices would remotely be helpful to me in any way. But a few years later I worked in a large-ish team where at some point we hit a wall due to the project being a monoli

In the software world something that works roughly similarly (i.e. where a prototype is differentiated from production) is devops. If you are deploying a toy-project once, maybe you are not setting up a CI/CD pipeline, Terraform templa

Same with the built in Mail and Calendar apps in Windows. On my Mac I can connect to my NextCloud/Mail-in-a-box natively but on my gaming PC running Windows I had to install Thunderbird.

I self-host on a small-ish VPS. I don't really have to deal with spam, mail-in-a-box comes with pre-configured spamassassin. I haven't had issues with deliverability. When I created the box I did a scan of the IP and domain, found

I did this move about a year ago, in addition I also moved my email from Gmail to a self hosted instance of Mail-in-a-Box. I never had any issues with either NextCloud or Mail-in-a-Box, I'm pretty happy about those.

Another regression in Win 11: no clock on multiple screens. Watching a video or playing a game full screen on your main screen, and want to check what time is it on another screen? Though luck, you can't. Unless you install an extensio

Let's put it another way: having to cast from the phone to the TV is like using a normal screw that requires a screwdriver. A TV where you don't need the phone is like one of those tool-less thumbscrews[1]. They are convenient bec
