I also started a privacy-friendly analytics SaaS without looking at the market. Sometimes it's better to just get started. Otherwise you probably won't start doing anything, as there are existing products most of the time. In my c

I feel like Google could filter out a lot of SEO spam by simply ignoring or downranking heavy sites. Everything that loads more than "n MB" is probably bloated and made to trick you into buying something or generating traffic with

Yep, we'll add another database instance in the future. But 250€/month for the AX161 is something we first have to justify...

I love Hetzner. Why not use their cloud offering? You can also combine that with dedicated servers if you need a lot of computation power. We use 4 VMs + on AX161 in the same network for Pirsch [0] and it just works. Spinning up a new VM ta

I really like that they use Energy as currency in Stellaris (the game made by Paradox). I think it shows what really matters.

I use a somewhat similar approach for Pirsch [0]. It's build so that I can run it locally, basically as a fully fledged staging environment. Databases run in Docker, everything else is started using modd [1]. This has proven to be a go

It looks like Google is finally reacting to some of the criticism [0] and changes a few things. I think it's still best to switch out your analytics or abandon it entirely if you don't rely on it. There are plenty of alternatives

This article doesn't seem to be thought out properly. I mean the name already suggests what Single Page _Applications_ are good for. They are useful when you want to build an application in a browser and not just a regular website. S

I use a password manager and would recommend you to do so too. Depending on a SSO provider just seems to risky to me right now, considering how easily you might lose access to your account. Of course, you also need to use your own domain fo

You can do the same on Amazon for free. I get a free month at least once a year, when they try to get me back in. I usually also buy a single month on Disney+ and watch the handful of good movies and shows that came out since my last subscr
