This is the only sane post I've read about this incident. All the major tech sites blew it way out of proportion. LastPass did everything right, and yet every headline was along the lines of "LastPass has been hacked, panic!". They deserve

I've had nothing but good experiences with iWantMyName [1]. My experience with them and GoDaddy has been like night and day. They provide simple, reasonably priced and to the point registration and management. Couldn't be happier with them.

So very true, IntelliJ IDEA is miles ahead of any other IDE I've ever used (including VS). For Java development, I started out with NetBeans, then switched to Eclipse and finally to IntelliJ. Recentely JetBrains has also released IDEs for R

RC1 has been very stable for me so far, no crashes or instabilities even with beta addons (Firebug). Upgraded from 3.6 about a week ago. Looks like Mozilla taking their time with this release wasn't completely unjustified. I just hope the o

This is one of the best books I've read about software engineering, along with Code Complete. I completely agree with the conclusion of the review, every programmer should be required to own and read this book.

Yes, I was surprised too. I've never used the word "virtualization" when refering to jails and VServer, but Wikipedia apparently refers to it as "Operating system-level virtualization". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS-level_virtualization

There are different kinds of virtualization. OS-level virtualization like Linux-VServer and FreeBSD jails have little to no overhead while being very secure.

Ruby owes much of its popularity to Ruby on Rails. I don't think Ruby would be as popular (or "hip") if it hadn't been for Rails. Ruby on Rails also appeared around the time webapp development was gaining a lot of momentum, so that might be

Did not work on a server running Debian Lenny with 2.6.26-2-amd64. Worked fine on Ubuntu Server 10.10 with 2.6.35-22-generic-pae though (got root shell). The comments mention that the exploit for CVE-2010-3850 is limited in regard to Slackw

I've already upgraded my laptop and file server to the 10.10 RC, and upgraded the few packages that changed between the RC release date and now. Haven't encountered any issues so far.

Since the slogan "don't be evil" is already in use, I'm guessing Oracle is going for "be evil" instead?
