Yes, that's correct. I thought I had that in the post but it may have just been a draft version. I use nycunorgvpny because it's easy to remember.

Here's a similar puzzle that can be used as a fun bar trick: Given a standard deck of 52 cards, a third party chooses any five from the deck and hands them to your accomplice. Your accomplice chooses four of the five and gives them to

I don't think I'm doing anything too fancy, but who knows? I probably have too many conversions to Objective-C objects that I used to workaround beta compiler issues that are probably fixed by now, but I haven't found a lot o

I'm curious to know how well it performs. I spent the better part of this weekend rewriting 4k lines of Swift in Objective-C because I couldn't deal with the 60-90 second compile times.

Thanks for this. I tried using Tesseract over the weekend to extract text from a game screenshot and had no luck. The documentation for Tesseract is rather opaque; maybe I'll have better luck with Ocropus.

Is this actually from the EFF or is the EFF Action Center a change.org-style site where anyone can submit petitions? I ask only because the text of the letter isn't particularly well written and contains some glaring mistakes: "Wr

Most wall calendars are also week based and they make it much easier to find a particular date (even if they didn't number every cell). They could have left blank cells at the beginning/end of each month or add an indicator betwee

The main chart in this article is horribly designed. Quick: try to find July 4th on the chart. The extra whitespace between each month invites you to scan down the left for July and then go over to the fourth cell, which is incorrect. The c

I wonder if the problem is exacerbated in the US by the lack of guaranteed time off. That is, European workers (for example) can better fill a 35-40 hour work week because they only have to work ~47 weeks of the year, whereas in the US, man

Given that this is surfacing now – two years after the radar was filed and 19 months after Apple responded – I'm going to go out on a limb and say this isn't a big deal at all.

I don't know what percentage of cars on New York City streets are cabs, or how many deaths are caused by taxis, but could a potential solution be to raise the slow-speed fare to incentivize drivers to slow down? A cab driver makes $0.5
