Warmth is usually the result of the electrical noise generated by analogue gear. There are plenty of software processing plugins to simulate this, and they get pretty accurate, but it does amuse me that producers spend an inordinate amount

Everything available digitally has a weak dynamic range. Really? I can't find the figures right now, but as I recall the max dynamic range available to vinyl is about 40db whereas for a standard CD it's about 96db, so in

Nope. Maybe someone clicked the wrong button by accident. Or maybe they're just rude. I often find that many of the most interesting comments on this site are the most downvoted, so if I were you I'd take some pride in your downvo

Not speaking for the parent, CoffeeScript is even worse than Javascript. The killer for me is indentation forming scope. If you accidentally indent your code incorrectly, like when you're copy/pasting from one file to another, you

I agree entirely. I think the same can be said of iOS 5 as well, the way they finally moved away from skeuomorphic styling. I am really surprised to see such an information dense UI, and I'm actually quite pleased they've taken th

I think that you're describing a history that is very peculiar to the west. I don't think other faiths (even other Christian denominations) have this problem.

Not really. The existence of God is a given. Science does nothing to prove or disprove His existence and probably never will. We are constrained after all by the limits of our universe. The purpose of science then is to help reveal the mean

But I think there is a difference. IE6 was so far away from the standard that you had real difficulty supporting both, and really couldn't embrace a lot of features other browsers supported well. This was of course by design, intende

I can't speak about AOL because I never used it, but I imagine the parent is talking about how apps like Outlook killed email conversation threads. [Edit: apparently that's not what parent was talking about, but I'm happy to

That's uncalled for. The upper classes joined the lower classes on the battlefield and shared their fate. WW1 brought about the near extinction of the British aristocracy. And I don't see that men in power were any more racist, cl

I think this is a common attitude today in all walks of life. We seem to be incapable of thinking for ourselves now, whether when using a computer or crossing the street. I'm amazed that we're still allowed to drive cars.

Also CVs are often vandalised by recruiting agents. I'm considering starting a policy of swapping CVs at the start of an interview so that they can see the CV I gave to the agency and I can see the CV the agency gave to them.
